Chubby 2 Synthetic is now in use for June. What a fantastic brush it is.

And it delivers almost immediately. I broke through the bottom of PdP and can see the tin! The wear pattern on the soap is more like deep canyon with steep sides, so there is a lot of soap left in the tin, but progress is progress. Here's hoping to be on to the next soap by August.

The Bottom of a PdP can?????? OMG this is a momentus Universal Event another 1st for 2020 but in a good way LOL, next you'll say you made it to the bottom of a L'Occtane UFO tin as well LOL

About 2 weeks since breaking through to the bottom of the PdP tin and I am once again reminded that for however long time stood still before breakthrough, it accelerates afterwards. The hole gets bigger and the sides of the soap canyon get lower. I may actually finish this soap by July. Shaving frequency being a bit less right now, that would translate into about 5 solid months of shaves (6 months of use), or about 150 shaves on this tin. At $15, that will come to about 10 cents per shave, which is pretty economical. If I were not trying to kill it, I could probably have gotten at least another 90 shaves out of it.

Which means I have to pick a new soap. I think I will go with something seasonally appropriate scentwise like Trumper Rose. I’ve had 2 pucks and another puck of Violet since about 2012, and the performance is not great, but the scent is divine. Once I’m buying soaps and creams again in the mid-20’s, I will always buy the creams, which are even stronger on the scent, but with outstanding performance.

It's definitely a bargain...I just don't think I would have the patience to use a whole PdP puck/tin up.

I am left with 2 small chunks of soap clinging to the side of the tin, and one came loose today to fall into the sink. I took it and the other piece and pressed it into the bottom of the tin. Truly, the end is nigh. I will leave it to the CH2 synthetic to finish it off.

Also, the lathers from PdP 63 are great. Really excellent, slick, rich cushioning stuff. The scent has mellowed, but delivers. My big takeaway from using it is to use water. When you think you’ve added enough, go back to the sink once more. You won’t regret it.

One day I might have to try that puck, Bob.

It’s really worth it, Sam. Once I finally figured out that using more water with this soap was better, it really moved to another level from a performance standpoint. I pressed the remains of the soap into the bottom of the tin and I still have a few shaves to go. I will enjoy every one. Since the month turned, I switched brushes (back to the L’Occitane synthetic). That super soft floppy mop was freaking awesome. Lather today was so. Damn. Good. I kind of wish I had done a third pass just for kicks.

The end is nigh and I will enjoy every last shave. Trumpers Rose will have to wait its turn.

Are all the PdP hard soaps basically the same with simply differing scents, or is there something truly special about PdP 63?

I think the formula is the same, with different scents.

Nice Catch-up Bob now if we could find you a Tardis Soap, LOL

I’d be grateful, Dave, if only so I can fast forward to an empty box of soap. I almost ordered a 100 g tub of Vito’s Extra Coco last week. I used a sample of that stuff for a couple of weeks once, and it was awesome. It put Cella to shame.

Finished the PdP? I thought that was impossible?! Seriously though...PdP and L'Occitane are really hard to kill. But you sir have persevered! Trumper's Rose. It is a nice scent...but my experience with it is not so good! Good luck my friend!

I got a very nice lather from Trumper today. Scent was fantastic, but I could use more of it. The lather was not as good as PdP, but more than passable.
