Ogallala Bay Rum + Plisson Synthetic + 30 seconds loading = gobs of good lather.

Good, not great, it still has a weird dry texture to it, but I'm getting reasonable slickness and cushion. I'm also putting a hurt on this soap, as it clearly has a depression in the center. There's no way this lasts 90 days.

I had a cheat day this week, and pulled out my small sample jar of CBL Soaps' Iron Throne. I last used it in the summer and was prepared for a drop off in what I remembered of its performance. That didn't happen, as the lather delivered as well as my earlier shaves. Rich lather. Slick lather. Cushioning lather. Fantastic scent and cooling sensation. It ticked all of the boxes. If I didn't have 10 years worth of shaves still in the cabinet, I'd be buying a full tub. I should also point out that the post-shave lingering scent goes surprisingly well with Floïd Blue AS. I thought the barber shop scent wouldn't go well, but I was wrong. I think that similarly-scented AS (Booster Polar Ice??) would work well also.

Ogallala is still doing its thing. Shaves are fine. Lathering is fine. Scent is fine. It’s kind of boring. I don’t get this with most of my 3017 projects, and am not sure what’s going on with this one.

I can definitely see why Bay Rum can get boring. I use my bay rum soaps and aftershaves more of a change of pace.

I think it’s more that the shaves are ‘good’ and not much more. I’ve had lots of 3017 experiences that were enjoyable and not just good.
