Circling back to the Gamechanger just to be sure I'm liking the MJ90A better. The shave was good, but despite a bit more pressure and some working / maneuvering, it was still not great. Stubble won, and irritation crept in during the fight.

I was wondering if I needed to do a shave off, half my face with each. I don't think that's needed at this point. I am fairly sure the 90A is better.

Yep, that's a four and a half star rating. Why? Because today I decided to try the new shave booster, by Ethos. I picked one of my lesser performing soaps to use. I decided to apply the booster for the first and last of three passes.

Applying the booster was odd. It's a solid stick, which seems to have a lot of drag in application. I could feel it considerably more than anything else going over my stubble. Yikes.

Despite the weird feeling, this stuff worked well. I was using a mild razor, with a good blade. Still, I shaved with reckless abandon and used a lot of pressure to get the hairs close to my skin. The result was surprisingly no irritation at all and a shave on par with the 84 Gamechanger.

I'll need more than one shave to make a final judgement, but preliminary results are very positive. I might have a new addition to my (every-other) daily shave. [emoji106]

Well hooray for 4.5. That darn Russian judge will always take points off! I guess I don’t quite get the point of using a lather booster instead of just buying soaps that don’t need it.
The answer that comes to mind is scent. When I saw the lather booster, the fist thing I thought of is this soap. It's not the best performer, but it smells amazing. It's not horrible, but it's not standing with Ethos, Kaizen, or SV to name a few.

This was my plan. Keep in mind, I could have gone the other road. I could pay Marco or Frank to duplicate this soap scent in a small batch, so I could get the scent in a phenomenal base. Probably have to buy a tub of this and shipping so they can analyze it. Then, when they get it right, a batch of their end result (5, maybe 10 tubs of soap?). Not sure if I'm saving money, though.

Next product I have to try is Succes by Ethos. The scent is very nice. Not overly strong, just enough to be noticed. A wonderful balance.

I scooped somewhere between an almond and a peanut sized scoop onto my brush and face lathered it. I got a yogurty lather easily and went to town.

The shave was ok, but I think I used too little soap.

Post shave I sit here with a burning sensation, which started off like the feeling I got from synthetic coolants. It has since progressed into something painful. I've rinsed it a few times. My face feels HOT and my wife says it looks red like a sunburn. At this point, I think this soap is one and done. [emoji3525]

Oh no! Not the ‘tation! Bummer...I guess it’s good you didn’t use all that much lol.

Hopefully it was just a sample? If not at least I’m sure you’ll find a BST buyer!

I already have it going to someone who'll like it. Problem solved.

Yeah, I had high hopes. Something in it doesn't agree with my skin. Ooh well, at least I had a chance to try it.

It kills me that the Ethos soap didn't work for me. It has been hailed by so many as one of the best. I so would have liked it to work out. However, it is what it is. Time to get back on track.

Today I randomly grabbed the Seville from my warmer weather scents. The more I smell it, the stronger the lemon I smell. Yowzers!

A quick load and I was off to the races. I decided this time I'd only use the lather booster only on the last pass (ATG). Well, I don't think the shave went quite as well as when I used it both first and last, but was still real good. Got a nice close, comfortable shave.

Heading in the right direction now that we have the Russian judge back in his (Russian nesting) box.

Today I chose to try CBL Harvest Oud. This stuff smells earthy, but a bit spicy / pumpkiny off the tub... very nice. Unfortunately, when lathered all I get is an earthy dirt smell. I had thought Oud was smokey, but now I think I may have had it mixed up with vetiver? Nonetheless, the scent wasn't for me.

The performance of this soap is awesome, though. Slick, quality lather that didn't make me feel dry or irritated. Well hydrated, well protected, making for a great shave... even if not a scent for me.

The first lather I chose to use both one the first and last (3rd) pass. Unfortunately I forgot about it on pass 3. Still, it was helpful for the first and with the good soap, no need for any more.

In the end, a great shave with no irritation. I'm very happy with the results. [emoji106]

Bummer the scent was a no go for you! Glad it was still a good shave though.
Oh god yes. CBL premium is awesome soap. Wish I had liked the scent, but you can't win them all.

I'm very picky about scents though. Also, I've found that any musky scent can smell good until I try using it. That's when it becomes too much. It's good they linger, I guess. [emoji3525]

PRE: Face wash with Stirling Menth Bar

Today's shave was with a new sample pack I just received from Mystic Waters. I ordered their 3 soap sample: Adirondack Jack, Leather & Smoke, and The Green Fairy. Adirondack Jack called to me, so it found it's way to the brush this evening. What a great smell, and the usual awesome performance of Mystic Waters.

I feel like, for some reason however, it was a bit harder getting that DFS. I managed with a bit of work, but definitely more than normal. Still, no irritation no problems and I did get my DFS. I'm ready for a (not so) relaxing weekend now. [emoji16]
