A Spartan's Tale

The Tech seems to be a real work horse around here. Have yet to hear anyone complain about a Tech shave. Personally, I prefer TTOs over the 3-piece design.

I can get along with some TTOs, like the Fatboy. The blade just doesn’t feel as well clamped for me as a 3 piece and the blade angle a little more rough.
I prefer Gillette 3 piece razors as well. Specifically, there isn’t a 3 piece OC Gillette that isn’t a top tier shaver for me (The NEW LC is king). The Techs are probably a step behind those, but are still quality tools.
I don’t enjoy the size of the TTO head, nor the blade clamp ‘feel’ at times. That being said, they are still good shavers, I just prefer other Gillettes.
I keep a ‘Crat Jr (Canadian Rocket) in the rotation and a Red Tip and SA (birth year) in the drawer for my son. I’ve also owned a standard Crat, flare tip and 40s SS . No Fatboy, though.

The TTO is a fatter head, for certain. Funny thing is, I love my 3-pc SE Vector.

From a Tech to a FH...vastly different tools, but in the end each are quality blade holders. The Barbasol produced very smooth results early this morning with no issues. You can put this one on the vintage 'Mt Rushmore' with a NEW LC and the MonoBilt. The 4th? Hmm...
The Endurance is doing its best to hang on, but is slowly being submitted. The Cologne had me hitting an early morning meeting 'loud and proud'.
Have a great night all!

Inspired by @Clint64 to reach for the L'Orange Noir and TdH earlier this morning. Always a good idea. The Arkadia is a decent dupe as well, but there is something in there, or not in there, that has it a little farther away from the original. I still enjoy it, though. No meetings this morning, so I had a few spritzes of the Hermes just for me...;)
I must say, I am not usually one who worries about razor/blade combos. If it is a Gillette from St. Petes, it always works in whatever shaver I throw it in. That being said, this Floating Head doesn't require a blade known for overt sharpness...the smooth Astra Green is a very nice compliment indeed.
Have a great day all!

A bit of a catch up post. 2 very nice 3 pass shaves. While I've posted on here that I don't usually enjoy TTO shaves as much as 3 piece shaves with vintage Gillettes, these were two quality shaves. Some software favourites these past few days for sure. The Desert Vetiver is something I may look at getting the EdT of...what a scent!
I hope to carve out some time later to catch up on everyone's quality journals.

Have a great day all!

Back to the Floating Head to finish the month off. I've had a very nice run the month with some razors that got neglected during SEptember and OCtober- this FH, a prewar Tech, a Canadian Rocket, a Karve (SB plates) and an Occam's DE. All are fine tools. The FH let me know it was there this morning. I had a bump (can a 52 year old have a zit?) on my cheek beside my mouth. Here is a simple math equation:
Floating Head + Skin Imperfection = Floating Head only. Bye bye skin bump. Hello red beacon. Splashed on the matching Shulton Cologne. if you've got a lighthouse on your face, you might as well complete the nautical theme and go out 'loud and proud'.😁
I guessed 5-6 shaves on the soap a few shaves ago and I think that was pretty accurate. 3-4 left now. Will be done this month for sure and that will mean that I've dusted 4 soaps this year...that must be some sort of record for me. More space in the cabinet...
Have a great day all!
