3rd Annual February "One Blade" Challenge!

Shave #27 on this blade. It isn't getting me to BBS anymore. However, the shaves are comfortable and close enough. I might give it another hone in a few days to see if I can up the performance.

With access to rubbing alcohol and a glass tumbler that has a smooth inner surface I think it is definitely possible to get 100 good shaves out of one of these carbon steel blades. The Treet Classic is performing well and is still rust free.

Razor: RR GC .84p
Blade: Wilkinson Sword (7)
Brush: Stirling Boar
Soap: Bootlegger Willie (6)
AS: Clubman Whiskey Woods

The Wilkinson Sword continues to slay the beard efficiently and comfortably.

Keeping an eye on things I notice the razor getting a bit gunked up again, so it was time for another cleaning. Otherwise 10View attachment 47106 shaves, no problems.
I noticed my Gamechanger getting a little clogged up too. I was wondering if it’s from the Willie soap or just a coincidence.

February 11, 2021

Had a nice relaxing evening shave today. My German Wilkinson Sword is holding up to the daily shaves so far!

Brush: Simpson M7 Faux Ruby Manchurian
Soap: Martin de Candre Vetyver
Razor: PAA El Fantasma OC Slant
Blade: Wilkinson Sword (11)
Post: Alum and GFT Lime Skinfood

Six shaves and still going strong. The General is quite a good razor on its own and I haven’t had a bad shave with it regardless of blade but the ProLine is just so smooth.

Rating: 5 / 5

February 14 - Halfway point!

Ever feel like you arrive to something a little late and all the cool kids have already left...
Who’s still doing this? How’s it going for you?

Had another good shave with my PAA El Fantasma, starting at last to get the knack of this razor I think. Today I had the courage to do an ATG pass for BBS rather than the one pass DFS I’ve been getting. Went ok. Still room for my technique to improve.
Brush: Simpson M7 Faux Ruby Manchurian
Soap: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
Razor: PAA El Fantasma

Still rocking the same Nacet. It isn't as exquisitly smooth as day 1-3, but there isn't any real issue with it. I'll flip it over again tomorrow for week 3.

Last month I used a single Nacet blade. Found it really started to change in feel after the 26th shave. Curious to hear your experience at the end of all this.

No issues with the Wilkinson Sword. I tried to actually figure out which version of the blade I'm using, but I'm having a hard time finding info online.

Today is blade flip, clean, and strop day. I ran two full laps per edge on my cowhide SR strop again as part of the clean up. These efforts seem to have improved things, as today's shave was smooth and simple. Was it days 1-3 smooth, no, but it was as good as some blades ever can be. No issues with putting more shaves on this blade. Current count, 15.

Still going strong on Day 15! Just past the halfway point, and I’ve not read about anybody grabbing for a second blade yet. This makes my very happy, especially if this is the longest that some of you have gone before!

Not sure if this will help you, but here is what my German Wilkinson Sword blade and packaging looks like. Don’t own any of the Indian/Chinese made for comparison unfortunately. 1592E6C3-9337-4CA0-9910-A4B8198CFF83.jpeg

10th or maybe 11th shave today, I will check when I get home tonight. Todays shave certainly was not the closest shave that's for sure, it was good and I had no nicks, cuts, or pulling, just not as close as usual. Ordinarily I would have pitched this blade by now, but I shall march onward. We will see what tomorrow will bring.

The Wilkinson Sword carries on. No issues to report. I don’t think I’ve really mentioned this, but I haven’t had anything less than DFS+ so far. With a few 3 Names BBS* thrown in as well 😎.
