3rd Annual February "One Blade" Challenge!

So the question is.... when the month is over, is anyone going to keep using the same blade? That is, if it still has life left.... or it everyone going to say, "Thank goodness that's over" and start with a new blade next month?
I have been awaiting the end of the challenge eagerly so I may return to SR shaving, but I believe I will hold on to this blade for future use, just to see how many more I can get out of it. It may be a minute before I revisit it though.

Agree with @SteveChuckFrank my Wilkinson Sword ⚔️ shows no signs of slowing down. Couldn’t get the product to water ratio right for my lather this morning, made a runny sort of lather, but still got a great close 1 pass shave with this razor/blade combo.

@Spider I’ll probably keep it going until it’s no longer fun to use. Last month I took a Nacet to 31 shaves, but it stopped being fun around shave 26. We will see how long this blade can go. Wondering if using it in a slant will extend its longevity as well?

I'll be saying.....

Well I let the beard grow in for near a week. Today the General knocked that down pretty quick. 8 shaves with the ProLine and it had no issues taking down pretty much everything on the first pass. Lovely snowy Monday.

I plan on continuing past February. I had a quite a few days this month that I just didn't shave, so even at the end of the month I’ll be under 28 shaves. I want to at least hit the 28 mark, but am now curious to see just how far this blade will go. So there is no end date for me on this one!

Razor: Rockwell 6C Plate 6
Blade: Wilkinson Sword (15)
Brush: TSC 2nd Anniversary “The Wizard”
Soap: Oz Shaving Co. Wicked

The Wilkinson Sword is still going stronk! I think the blade is an even better match in the Rockwell on plate 6 than it is with the Game Changer. BBS 2 days in a row with not a sign of an asterisk. This has never happened to me before. No weepers either, and I usually get at least 2 or 3.

Another close comfortable shave. Once I got used to the super-lightweight feel of the razor, I’ve been getting great shaves. Still wish it was a little heavier though, at only 16g, I have to actively keep finding that magic spot between touching my face and no added pressure.
Does somebody with an original Fasan know if 16g was the weight of the original?

Today was shave #38 on the Treet Classic and it is still giving me great results. All it needs is a good palm stropping after each shave and an occasional hone in a glass water tumbler. I am certain that I could keep this blade going to shave 100 and probably beyond. However, I am looking forward to retiring this blade in March.

I am starting to feel the need for a straight shave.

Interesting, I never thought about that...
They made many different vintage glass razor blade "hones", which were curved. I have about 5 of them. People use drinking glasses to get the same effect. If you try it, just make sure your glass has straight sides, and not like a pint glass, so that it hones evenly.

Day 25 with the Wizamet blade and this was as far I can stretch it. My normal process is to take the blade out of the razor immediately following each shave to wash and dry the blade and then store it on a piece of magnetic tape. For most blades, I get 3-5 shaves out of it. For this month's "One Blade Challenge," in addition to my normal routine, I've been hand stropping the blade every couple of shaves and on one occasion, following shave 23, I stropped it on the linen side of my strop that is covered with paste. The blade was good through about shave 20 and then starting limping along fairly quickly until today's shave was it. Never became super uncomfortable; however, at the same time, it did not provide a very close shave even using the Blackbird razor. Tomorrow I'll start with a fresh Wizamet to finish out the month.

Shave #24 with my Wilkinson Sword is in the books. Got worried yesterday when I had some irritation and two small nicks that I had reached the end of the blade, but stuck with it today and got another great shave. Must’ve been me, I guess my technique was off yesterday.
