Life On the Wee Woo Box

  • Pre-shave: Warm shower and apricot scrub
  • Razor: One of the straights (terrible idea)
  • Blade: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  • Brush: Grizzly Bay Decadence or something like that
  • Soap: Proraso red
  • Aftershave: Thayer's Lavender, Bootlegger's Icy Velva
  • Frag: none
  • Music: none
Work is work. One of my paramedic classmates is starting on my shift tomorrow, which excites me. He's another person who is willing to learn the job and remain humble in the process.

This was all a terrible idea, but I didn't bleed any of my own blood. I think it's the Wade and Butcher Long Bow or something crazy like that. I dunno, ask the next guy. First off, I put the remainder of my very first shave soap into the old Leviathan container, which made it so much easier to load. I had forgotten how incredibly dry this lather is, and how incredibly not slick it is. I gotta say I'm pretty spoiled with literally any of my other soaps. I found a random diagram of shaving directions that I figured I'd try out. It's pretty consistent with my growth direction, but it doesn't get close anything close to DFS, more of a suitable shave. This was my first razor burn in a while, but it's alright. Icy Velva soothed my skin pretty damn well.

I'm starting to come back around a little more often. My head doesn't feel as full anymore, so I can fill it back up with Cadre nonsense. (I'm looking at you @woodpusher) I think that's about it for today. I do have some other stuff on my mind, but it's more introspective stuff that helps me cope with the crap I see and do at work. If I can't change the outcome, I can at least learn from it; that's my mentality. I hope you're all well, Cadre. Thanks for reading.
Hermano....Sam has a massive brain....we mortals don’t have that kind of brain pan size available! Be careful now! Glad you are back among us!

  • Pre-shave: Warm shower and apricot scrub
  • Razor: Rockwell 6S, R6
  • Blade: Supermaxx or Supermax, whichever
  • Brush: one of my synthetics ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  • Soap: CBL Cigar Shop Hombre
  • Aftershave: Queen Bee's Copperhead Woods aftershave lotion (I think)
  • Frag: V&R Spicebomb
  • Music: Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American
Howdy. I'm bentheduck and I'm new around these parts for like that 180000th time this year. Before I get into catching you guys up, I want to thank @MilkCrate for his unwavering Texan friendliness and @dangerousdon for his...gator...ness???? Tim won Don's PIF and forwarded it straight to me without me knowing. Actually I kinda knew, but only because I got a shipping notification from the UPS store 10 minutes from Don's house - didn't know what it was until I asked and got on here to look. Thank you both. Moving on. Work is work. I'm past the year mark as a paramedic, so that's cool. It's a hump I was ready to get over, but it's a really insignificant milestone in the grand scheme of things.

The hombre is next up for killing. I like the scent, but I don't love it. It's really forward on leather and that isn't really my thing for whatever reason. This blade is still going strong for me after a handful of uses. I had planned on using a new gel tipped boar brush, but I forgot to soak it so a grabbed a synthetic. Great lather, great shave. The 6S is an underrated and underused razor in my stable, but it's been getting a lot of use lately.

I bonded with my partner on Sunday over music and it started when I watched a video about how Bleed American came to be.

Venessa and I are in the beginning stages of buying a house. I've learned a lot and I think it's going to be an interesting experience, not necessarily fun, but interesting. Venessa has already had an eye opening moment when I showed her that the Zillow estimates are way off. The cats are well and adorable. No kids on the way yet. I think that's it for today. I hope you're all well. Thanks for reading, Cadre.

Good luck with the house hunting!

Hey...It only took me like three weeks (maybe more) to get it to you. But I finally did. Just some small things that I haven't really used in a really long time and probably won't get around to...

I LOVE Bleed American! It's one of those songs that fits perfectly in what I believe to be a good song!

However…

When it comes to Jimmy Eat World...my favorite song of theirs is "Lucky Denver Mint." Yeah...it's old...I think it was released in 1998 or 1999...somewhere around there...but I LOVE this song...one of my absolute favorites. I will say...that this is one of the only songs that I think is NOT done better acoustic. Though I have to admit that the vibe of the song is way different their video.

Thanks, hermano!

Hi Ben, welcome to the journals!
Thanks, Tim! :ROFLMAO:

I still haven't gotten around to listening to evening Jimmy Eat World has released. Chase This Light is an easy second after Bleed American. Listening to Jim talk about production and how they write music is fascinating.

It's hard to say that Jimmy Eat World is underrated as artists seeing as they are pretty darn successful and popular. But they are WAY more talented as artists than most of the REALLY popular groups out there. They were relegated mostly to College radio since the early 90s until Bleed American and The Middle came around (2001ish?)

They are pretty darn good!

Ben! Great to see ya man! Glad you’re doing well.

Good luck with the house hunt! It’ll be worth the headache if you can find a good starter home!

Who’s this Ben guy??? 😂😂😂. Glad to see you pop in Ben. I haven’t listened to Jimmy Eat World in forever, thanks for deciding my drive in music on the way to work tomorrow!

Zillow estimates are way off.
Don’t be surprised to see houses listed on Zillow that aren’t actually for sale as well. The site is very inaccurate.

  • Pre-shave: Warm shower and apricot scrub
  • Razor: RR Wunderbar
  • Blade: Treet Silver, new
  • Brush: I have a new gelled (is that how you spell it??????) boar that I've been grabbing a lot
  • Soap: CBL Cigar Shop Hombre
  • Aftershave: Skin Bracer
  • Frag: Mugler A*Man Alien or something like that
  • Music: The Ataris - So Long, Astoria
I'm back again for a quick second. I finally got some free time at work to jump on and catch up a bit. Work is work. The part time is part time. The house hunt might have ended when it began, but there are still a couple of obstacles, so I'm still holding my breath. Damn, that hard freeze sucked, but we made it out unscathed, although Venessa was home alone with the cats without power and water. I'd like to not live through something like that again if at all possible.

I think this brush is a Craving Shaving called something about DNA, it's cool, and I'll upload a picture if somebody doesn't eat it. It's my first and only gelled boar knot. The knot is breaking in nicely - I've been grabbing it for the past 3 or so weeks and I have no complaints at all. CIgar Shop Hombre has kinda grown on me, but it's still a little too leather forward for me, with only a little bit of tobacco starting to come through. I really can't complain about the shave at all. The only notable thing is that this is the first time I've put a Treet Silver in the Wunderbar. I don't know if it's because I haven't used it in a while, but even though it wasn't uncomfortable, I felt quite a bit of blade, more than I remember feeling in the past. No bleed, DFS. This frag is awesome.

I was watching a random early 2000's movie and this song was played at the ending credits. Takes me back to high school.

It's a super small world in this business. One of the new guys at my part time job is from my neck of the woods. To make things more interesting he used to work for a well-known company. It gets curiouser because he was my dad's partner. I never thought I would meet anybody that worked my dad up here. I'm sure I'll get to hear a lot of interesting stories. I think that's about it for today. I hope everybody is well. Thanks for reading, Cadre.
