Your Latest Fragrance Purchase

Alrighy after reading several threads here on frag and the love of Marshals, I hit up the local today. I decided on Commodity Vetiver.

It was an excellent choice. Deep woody vetiver and a good mix of fruity spice and patchouli heart. This will match up well with my general preferances.

Burlington has, by far, the best selection locally for discount frags around me. Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and Ross all have maybe 10-15 at one time in the men's sections but Burlington has TONS. A happy surprise when I was in there with my wife a few weeks ago!!

I know one thing people say is to try and avoid falling down the rabbit hole of cheapie frags, and it's something I'm attempting to do. I bought samples of all the Tommy Bahama offerings and didn't end up liking any. Sample of Nautica Voyage lead to a full bottle pick up at Burlington, and nothing else in the current line really spoke to me. One that did was the discontinued Summer Voyage, which goes for $80+ online. Nope. Then I found out Blue Sail is a re-release of that liquid. But it's OOS at the Nautica website which leads me to believe it might also be discontinued. Could still be picked up at online discounters but I didn't really want to pay shipping. Low and behold, while at Burlington today with the wife and kid, there was a bottle sitting there ripe for the taking.

There's nothing wrong with less expensive, a lot of great ones out there. Probably the main thing is just trying them vs buying on Amazon because they are cheap, and wind up having a drawer full of stuff you don't use.

100% - went from 0 bottles to 6 in a matter of a couple months (of which 4 are cheapies) so I don't think the wife would tolerate any more for now! :ROFLMAO:

I had to add to my 80s powerhouse selection for fall and snagged Quorum while at Ross.

My son also saw something he needed and insisted on his first fragrance purchase. Believe it or not the Lightning McQueen is a fair Aqua Di Gio dupe.

Just in from Paris -

Le Galion - Sang Bleu
Lovely old school blue, somewhat powdery, somewhat animal, and all man.
I've read comparisons to O.G. YSL Kouros, with the animalic turned down.
For some reason I really started to enjoy the sample when I was working out, so thought it would be a great first purchase from the house. I've loved the majority of the samples I got, so it was actually pretty hard to decide.

When making the purchase, I added a couple of samples. However, a couple fo the frags I wanted to try didn't have samples available. When purchasing there's a place to leave a note, which I always appreciate.
I left a few kind words, as they threw in a couple of extra samples for free when I ordered the sample set, and I generally love the house. I also asked if they had any samples available of the ones not on the site.

I didn't really expect anything, but it never hurts to ask. So I was vey pleasantly surprised to see the largest sample bottle I've ever seen included as an extra with this purchase. it's a 10 ml sample, that normally goes for 30€, so really a kind gesture on the part of the house.

This is one reason I love patronizing the smaller houses. Personalized notes, and little extras go a long way to insuring my loyalty. Of course if the scents were great it wouldn't matter, but in this case, it's a hard love. I highly recommend any fans of classic old school scents to check this house out.
