I talked myself out of Bleu de Chanel EdP, out of Acqua Di Gio Absolu, and even Bond No 9 Coney Island (because I really wanted a niche) - also Houbigant Fougere Royal……but I was weak and so couldn’t stop this buy:
That's the only Creed scent I've tried that I didn't like. Allegedly a sort of refined, upscale "Old Spice" but I got none of that.
I think maybe I have a fondness for it because it was the the first menthol soap I ever purchased— Murphy & McNeil Gael Laoch - which is an homage to it. Ironically, I only bought the menthol version because at the time the non-menthol label was black and white and this one was gold. I am definitively not a rose person - so I was shocked that I liked the combo - maybe the citrus mutes the rose a little, but I like the peppermint note. But I can see how this is not one that is universally liked. I get mostly the peppermint, citrus, and light rose - the pepper is a little spicy - but you’re right - I don’t see the similarities with Old Spice.
This is definitely me going beyond my normal comfort level - definitely not a safe scent.

Found another killer deal!
Different beast from my favorite 2012, iris-inclusive formulation. Another discontinued formula but still a landmark scent, which doesn’t happen often for reformulations…supposed to be something like Dior’s response to Chanel Homme Allure Sport and hold something by a little extra special over the current DHS.

It’s popularity is well founded…it’s a superb scent IMO. It’s just that now too many people seek after it, at least anyone that really is into frags…and many reformations have made frag heads less trusting to dish out the cash.
Have you used it?
Yes I received a sample of Chypre - Siam when I purchased a bottle of Mousse Illuminee. For me I really like it.

Lorenzo Villoresi - Uomo + Samples
I was very happy with my last order from Essenza Nobile, so went with them again for one of my GOAT frags. Beautiful natural citrus opening and classy amber cologne drydown, really for me, the best I’ve tried, though Le Galion’s Cologne Nocturne is close. So I’m pretty set now on this style of scent.
If you like this sort of scent, I really give it my highest recommendation.
Also got a lot of samples, 4 other from Villoresi, plus Frederic Malle Synthetic Jungle, Goutal Eau d’Hadrien, Houbigant Duc de Vervins l’Extreme, and ELdO Rien.
And they threw in a few freebies, including one of the Creed’s I’m actually curious about, though fellow TSCers seem to have divergent opinions.
