What’s new to you?

Van Yulay Gingerbread shave soap.

For some reason it has a very weak cinnamon candy scent... not gingerbread. I test lathered it and was quite unimpressed.

In the bin it goes. Now I know why no one talks about this company.

I had some a while back. Unimpressed as well. Their focus seems to be on scents rather than high performance scents. They have like 200 different scents... it’s quite insane.

$4 F-1 Fatboy find at flea market. We'll see how it cleans up later but appears to work including quarter turn. Now getting to work.

Wow, awesome find! Congrats. [emoji106]

I clearly live in the wrong place, lol. No luck with flea markets, estate sales, etc.. I have done well in the bay in the past, including a Slim from this past summer. That brings up a question...

When you clean TTOs do you usually oil the "gears", so to speak? I like to put mineral oil (I use baby oil because it's a readily available MO) in the main shaft, on the door hinges, and at the dial for adjusting the level. Not certain if it helps much, but my black handle birth year certainly doesn't squeak anymore.

Last one I found for $3 and sent it to North Shore Razors for Rhodium coating. He recommends just using it and letting the oils from the soap and water lubricate it naturally but I'm sure you could use oils to if preferred. This one doesn't squeek at all so I'll just use soap and water soak and scrubs to see how it looks afterwards.

Ahh, interesting.

Well, in my defense the black handle razor sounded like an air raid siren when I would open it. Lol. [emoji1787]

@NurseDave or you could read this forum more 🤪
Stop it! Your going to make me support Russian election interference by convincing me to buy one of them there COOL as heck looking Russian razors. I don’t even use DE razors in a regular basis and I feel like I have to have one of those now...

Stirling Christmas Eve came in last night. Wow, it does smell good. Mind you that's just from the puck. I won't know until I lather it. Currently doing CBL this week, but maybe I should do a test leather tonight?

Also makes me wonder if I've made an error not buying Mystic Waters Ginger Cranberry Pear. It strikes me that they'd have a lot in common, and I have a feeling I'm going to be a big fan of this Christmas Eve soap. [emoji846]

Great pickup @Dave in KY

Yes, I have used mineral oil to lubricate the TTO mechanism.

The black handled Gillettes are aluminum inside, and if it's squeaking like that the aluminum has likely started to corrode. I had a Super Adjustable that was completely seized up, couldn't turn the TTO knob at all. I sent it to Capt Murphy for repair and he said the Aluminum inside had completely disintegrated.
