What’s new to you?

I seen a post on here about Gold Dollar straight razors. If I remember right is was about modifying them. So I did some research about them. Heard alot about their low quality. Discovered that most complaints was steel quality. But also that 1 of the other reasons for not being able to rehone them was because of them being warped, especially at the spine. If not caught mskes them not able to be properly honed. Because of curiosity, I decided to try 1, but didn't get yhe cheapest 1. Got 1 without stabilizer because that was also a complaint that made them harder to hone. Once I hot this 1 I checked it gor a warped spine or blade. Found it to be straight. Passes hanging hair test. Passes packing peanut test. Passes shaving my arm test, straight out of box. Not going to bother ever using travel strop they sent in kit. That is junk compared to what I already have. Brush is just OK handle wise, but synthetic knot is pretty good but small probably 18 mm. Soap was a very pleasant surprise. Weak citrus scented triple milled soap I'm guessing. Lathers very quick with very little water, but decently slick. Residual slickness is there but barely. Tested soap with my Supply Single Edge Max Razor with a Schick Injector razor blade. Yes, can make them work. But maybe slight increase in blade gap since it sets up slightly higher because it doesn't have 3rd hole Supply blades have. Make sure blade alignment is correct it can shift if not careful closing hop. Will try straight razor during weekend when I get back home. On the road until Saturday. If straight razor quality is too low for my liking, I'm gonna remove scales to put on different razor because the scales are excellent quality and pretty 😍
