What’s new to you?

That's more for major imperfections if you are using it for razors. I set the bevels and take out small to moderate imperfections on a 2K. Granted that is a Shapton pro and a bit faster at removing material than the superstones, but the 1K you have should do really well at that.
I never liked those flattening stones myself, but some people do. Make sure you lap it flat before you use it on your stones, and use it sparingly. Superstones are realatively soft and will eat away quickly if you don't pay attention.

I had a set. They are good stones, but I was doing a lot of razors and found myself lapping them all the time, so I traded them and got some Shapton pro stones. For casual honing though, they should last you a long, long time.
Shawn what do you use to flatten your stones?

Good to know about the 400. It's a good thing I've been practicing with razors that don't hold any sentimental value. I'm not going to be doing any heavy duty honing until I get my technique down. Once I'm proficient, I'll upgrade gradually to maybe the Chosera line. I know Shapton stones are dense, but I don't like how thin they are. It doesn't seem like I'd be getting as much bang for my buck. I'm almost certain that I'm wrong about that, though.
You are right in thinking you certainly are. 😜 The superstones are the softest of the 3. Good stones for sure, but as I mentioned, they were wearing fast for me with as many razors as I was honing. The chosera are a resin bonded stone. A little faster and harder than the superstones, as well as thicker.
The shapton pro are ceramic. Pretty much the hardest, densest stone you will get outside of a diamond plate. So less wear on the stone, and less lapping. They are a splash and go stone, so no soaking required. And they cut faster, so less time is spent on the stone.

I use a large(ish) piece of solid surface counter top (synthetic granite look-alike) and wet/dry sandpaper.
Any flat hard surface large enough for a full sheet will do. A scrap of granite, glass, etc... Soak the paper and it sort of sticks to the surface. I then work the stone being lapped on the paper surface, instead of working the lapping tool on the surface of the stone. This allows me more room to get the entire stone face worked at the same time. The lapping stones are often smaller than the stone being lapped and more difficult to keep everything consistent.

More products from @LNHC. The bar of soap is wrapped, so I cannot smell it. The Isle of Skye is an exquisite fragrance. Upon opening the jar I was smacked in the face with a wonderful citrus and lavender fragrance; the other aromas came through shortly afterward. I'm definitely looking forward to using this soap!

If you end up liking the Rainforest soap, I have a match (Yulin) in the artisan shaving soap. Hope you enjoy everything.

I recently acquired a RazoRock GameChanger Open Comb razor with the HD handle. I liked that handle because of it's length of 85mm and it reminds me of the Merkur 34C HD handle. I've been using it exclusively for about a month now and finally have it dialed in. For the first time I've been able to get a decent shave on my neck. Not BBS yet but real close. In fact yesterday's shave was the best. I've been pairing it with Polsilver SI blades. I'm really liking this razor and plan on going back to my Gillette New Deluxe which was my previous favorite to compare the shaves. They seem to both perform pretty similarly. Anxious to see how they compare.

Got a Mail Call on Friday. Also, stopped at the liquor store and scored.

The Weller Bourbon, which is very, very hard to find these days is stupendously good. I went back on Saturday to get a second bottle and they were already out. The store sold through 220 bottles in 3 days. If you are a bourbon fan and find a bottle of this, do not hesitate to take it home with you. Yum!
