Welcome to the Danger Zone!

Don't feel bad about voicing concerns about the job here, Don! Glad we can be an additional sense of stability for you!
Believe me...you guys offer more stability in my life than you will ever know!

Hey Don I'm about as dumb as they come to computers. I am using an app called FilmoraGo, it works alright. Is more powerful than I probably realize too.

As to the work stuff I hope it all works out for the best!
Thanks Chad! I think I found something that will work for now.

I'm looking forward to the Nobel Otter reviews. While I curse how many soaps I already want to buy, I'm a glutton for finding even more for the list.
The Noble Otter is a soap you will want to try! It's that good! I hope there is a scent that you like.

Just the word, "furlough", makes me shutter, having experienced one that lasted too long.
Honestly, the state workers here in Louisiana have endured a lot of things...but a furlough is not one of them...at least in long time.

Sorry about the work troubles. I hope it blows over quickly. It’s nkt fun to have your livelihood messed with on someone else’s whim.

Don't stress over the video. Just try to have fun with it, like shaving. My bachelors was in computer graphics, there can be a lot of frustrations with software sometimes. If it’s not fun, do something simpler.
Thanks! I am sure the work thing will be okay...it's just the thought that you have legislators that it's their only job to make sure the government stays running...and they are failing miserably at that.

Thanks for sharing. Furloughs suck hugely. Keep us in the loop. Here's hoping that your legislature gets off its ass.
Believe me...I will let you all know.

Hope things work out for you at work Don. Even if that means finding something else. I have an initial Zoom (like Skype) interview next Monday, and honestly, it has been over two decades since I interviewed for a job. Knowing that I am quite rusty, I'm not feeling uber confident.

Yeah, I am brushing up the resume and getting ready to see if there is anything out there. I really hope the interview goes well for you Walt...just be yourself and be confident and it will all fall in place!

Really guys...thanks for reading. The software thing is more of nuisance than anything else. The funny thing is that I have a laptop that is fairly powerful and can run a lot of things. But I am too cheap to spend $50 on some software. The mobile apps are so much cheaper and to tell you the truth are super easy to use and really all I need. But my tablet as very little memory and I can't use an external device with it. I am going with the app route on the tablet and will make that work. Hopefully I will get that review up soon. Hope you all have a great evening!

Razor: 1962 Gillette Slim Adjustable
Blade: Rapira Super Stainless (2nd Shave)
Soap/cream: Mystic Water - Coconut Sandalwood
Brush: Stirling - Finest Badger 24 mm Fan
Aftershave: Thayers Coconut Water Witch Hazel
After the Aftershave: Fine - Platinum
After that After Shave, which makes it the beginning again...I think - Fine - Platinum EdT

I had a really nice shave today...no complications, no surprises, just smooth sailing. Since I have been using the Noble Otter soap I think my shaves have been getting better. Que the Mystic Water. Now I have to tell you, I have NEVER had a problem loading, lathering, or shaving with any Mystic Water soap, old version or new. And I may not have as many MW soaps as KJ, but I have had a few and tried even more. So I don't know if it is because Noble Otter is just that much better or maybe I didn't load and lather properly today...but while the lather on the MW was good...it wasn't nearly as good as this past weeks worth of shaves with Noble Otter. Anyway...other than the differences in soap...the shave was excellent. Not quite BBS on the neck...but I think I am getting there. I know you guys use "viscillis" (sorry for the incorrect spelling) for a unit of after shave splash...I might start using "glugs." It doesn't sound refined at all...but for me it's a more accurate description. I tend to pour out the after shave by the glug! And I am pretty sure I am "that guy" at work. Except that everyday I get compliments on the scents that I am wearing. Today will be no different. I am a man who loves to "glug" his after shave!

The Danger Zone:

I will keep it short and sweet today. I will finally put my Noble Otter review up this evening. I was going to do it this morning,
but I didn't want to rush it. So tonight. At least for now...I am going to forgo the video portion just so I can get the review out there! I will say that on Sunday...my last shave with Noble Otter, probably was the best shave of my life...it was just fantastic!

I get to where jeans AND athletic shoes to work today! This never happens...though we get to wear jeans once a month after our Board meets. My last job I would wear jeans two to three times a week. So I take every opportunity to dress down when I can. The special occasion is that the Fire Marshal is coming by tomorrow and we have decades worth of legal files in banker boxes to "hide." Naturally, since I am the largest person in the office (but not the tallest...there is a girl who is 6'8" that works for us too...for comparison, I'm ONLY 6'3", and yes...she played basketball in college) I will likely be the office pack mule for the day. No biggie...my cases can wait.

I hope you all have a wonderful day today!

Great stuff Don! based on what you've been saying about the Noble Otter soaps and other reviews across the interwebz, I went ahead and blind bought some tubs from them. The Noir et Vanille, The Train and Barrbarr. Really looking forward to giving them a run out...you really did a great job enabling on these, Don!

Well if I enabled...then...YES!!! I nailed it...and I am not sorry.

I don't think you will be disappointed. Believe me...Lonestar will not be my last scent. The scent itself is a little out of the box for me and I am not sure why I picked that one. But I am glad I did. You will have to let us know how the other scents are!

Great discussions on the shave as well as the Noble Otter. I look forward to the read. Enjoy your comfortable day at work, even if you are going to be the lead pack mule. FYI, I had always interpreted vasilli to mean a squirt from a pump in an EdC, EdT or EdP. I think "glug" is a completely appropriate unit of measure for an aftershave.

The suspense.....OH THE SUSPENSE!!!!!

Love casual dress days! Nowadays ever since my old managing director left, every day is casual. So jeans and khakis galore. ?

Ah... Platinum! Hard to beat it!
I still think FAB is my favorite scent of theirs...but Platinum is right there also!

Thanks for the clarification Walt. The term Vascilli is just to refined for me any way. And with splashes...up...I'm a "glug" kind of guy!

Great shave. You can't go wrong with Mr. Fine's products.

Have fun lugging boxes today.
Fine Accouterments was one of my first aftershaves and o have stuck with them ever since. I have owned a most of them...but for some reason, I still have yet to get Italian Citrus! I need to remedy that in a hurry!

The suspense.....OH THE SUSPENSE!!!!!
IT"S POSTED...FINALLY!!!

I really could use a job where I can where jeans everyday. Because we often have politicians and so called important people in our offices, our Executive Administrator wants us to look more professional. It's not a bad thing...I just miss wearing jeans.

Excellent shave and set up Don! As for the Vassily's, I believe it was brought about by this clip from The Hunt for Red October, and is used as a warning to not overspray your frag, for fear of making other people feel they are drowning in it.

I had wondered what the term meant as well lol...but I tried to figure it out from context clues instead of asking a possibly dumb question. Thanks for clarifying.

When I first started noticing it here I’m like...why are they talking about their frags in terms of Soviet snipers?

Pretty much the same shave as last time...

No Picture...sorry guys.

I guess I am trying to get to the bottom of the Mystic Water Coconut Sandalwood, since I can actually see the bottom of the tub. I know it's been a couple of years (almost) since I acquired this delicious scent. But I think this is the quickest I have used up any soap at all! It was a no frills shave...two passes...North to South to North again...a perfectly acceptable DFS. No dolphins will mistaken me for one of their own...but Rougarou from the swamps of Louisiana won't think I am kin either. There were no vascillis taken in this house (well, at least not until the EdT that is). Several "glugs" of the after shave and I am feeling like a spiced pineapple!

The Danger Zone

I had to drive to Lake Charles yesterday to listen to a complainant in a case. It might be the worst case to date that I have to investigate since I became an Ethics Investigator. It was a lot to take in and to be honest...I might be feeling a little over my head. But I'll take it one piece at a time and do my best to uncover the facts. I just have to keep focused.

We went from super dry here in the Baton Rouge Metro area to it raining everyday. I'm appreciative for the rain...but my black dog...Allie...well, she was a rescue dog and has severe anxiety over Thunder and Fireworks. The rain has brought a great deal of lightning and I really feel bad for her. We have been taking her to acupuncture sessions...and yes...I know what you all are thinking, because I once thought it too. Between the acupuncture and th
e herbal capsules that the vet (yup it's an actual vet that does the acupuncture...she even teaches the practice at the LSU Vet School) gives her, the anxiety is better, but it's not completely gone...likely won't be either. I am happy we can provide some relief for her...but I have been thinking about my girl every time it rains lately.

Here is a pick of my Black Dog. Wee don't know what she is really...She is a Lab something mix...but honestly, we don't care either. She is ours!

Hope you gents have a wonderful day!

Nice shave today Don!! That's a pretty pup you have there! We get all of our animals as rescues as well...there are too many good animals in the pounds/animal control cages to bother going to a breeder, and they tend to be much more thankful for the rescue!

Nice read Don. As to the pup, have you tried one of those vests that you put on the dog, that is supposed to help them feel more calm? I can't remember what they are called but I know my in-laws used one on a dog who was petrified during the 4th of July and they swore by it!

A quick google search yielded this. But I am sure there are cheaper options if desired

Yeah, we've tried the Thunder Shirts and I have to admit that they do work. Especially in the smaller dogs we have had. But the acupuncture seems to work better. We just want make sure our dogs have the best life we can provide.

Pets are family! No one can convince me otherwise. I am glad the acupuncture helps. Hopefully she can overcome her fears.

Good stuff Don!

Have confidence in your abilities for the work case. You’ll get it done, no doubt!

Great looking dog! We have only ever gotten pound pups, never had a regret about it, they’re some of the best! Our latest fur friend from the local shelter is super skittish about any loud sounds, we’re still working on trying to build her confidence a bit. The week of the 4th next month will be rough though!

The 4th of July and New Year's are my least favorite holidays because of the fire works. I know it seems like "quack" medicine, but there is actual real science behind it. The stuff actually works. We have seen an improvement with anxiety...so that is a good thing. But what made me a believer was when our Dachshund Chauncey got hurt, he had complete paralysis of his rear legs. Surgery was going to about $5,000. Then our vet suggested acupuncture. We first thought he was crazy, but he assured us that the results were usually good. So we decided to give it a shot. Within two sessions, Chauncey was moving his legs and within six sessions, he was completely healthy. A lot of people make the argument that it's a mental thing and that humans are projecting results on their pets. The thing is, there is no such thing as a placebo effect in dogs. Their minds don't work that way. The treatment either works or it doesn't.

Here is Chauncey...

And here are both of them together...

Don, in my immediate family we have 3 rescue dogs. But in our case, I have to ask the question, who rescued whom? Don't get me wrong, we are still a pretty screwed up family. I just know we would be worse without them.

I'm so glad that the treatments are helping her.
