Yup...Bay Rum week continues. And I decided to pull out one of my favorite bay rum scents...Buffalo Shave Co. - Saloon No. 10. This isn't your typical bay rum scent though. It's a Root Beer and bay Rum Scent. Heavy on the root beer but the spicy notes of the bay rum are still there! I only wish the soap was just a tad bit better. Not a bad shaving soap by any stretch of the imagination. Buffalo Shave Co. hit all the notes that make a good shaving soap, but it just doesn't excel at any one thing. Making this a soap that performs solidly in the middle of Tier 2. But like I said...this scent is to die for! Sadly again, this soap and the soap maker are no longer to be found. So between what I have in Saloon No. 10 and another scent I have in this maker...that will be it.

I had a decent enough shave but I ended up with more irritation than I was expecting. I might have been using more pressure than I thought, but I am not sure. I don't think it was the soap because I have used it several times before. Oh well, I ended up with a DFS anyway so it is all good! Several glugs of Captain's Choice Bay Rum and I am ready for the day.

The Danger Zone:

Been working out pretty consistently lately. The program I am using to track my progress as well as tell me what exercises, weights, reps, and sets to use and do really makes thins super easy for me. Over the past week or so I have noticed that the weights have leveled off some and I wasn't working as hard. I mean...this is a good thing right? Well I checked in the program online and it turns out there is a feature that requires you to do a strength test every so often before it allows you to progress with weights. This is to avoid injury. So I did the strength test and continued on. Well my next session, the weights increased significantly and I was pushing a whole lot more than I was expecting! I am continuing to do yoga but I am doing it from home. I had a notion that I was over doing it and might have been doing more harm to my back than good. So I kind of go easy in that arena for the time being. Since I wasn't going to yoga on Tuesday and Thursday I needed to do something. I have been working on increasing cardio activity (albeit slowly) so I decided yesterday to do a spin class. It was not what I was expecting and I really enjoyed it. So it looks like I found a new aerobic activity that I like!

Having a cup of coffee with the my best friends on the Internet...it's you cadre! I hope you all have a wonderful Hump Day! It's that much closer to the weekend!

I am impressed with your workout regimen. What program are you using?

I stopped working out for a while. What a mistake that was! If you don't use it, you lose it.

It's called ActivTrax. Because I have a membership at my local YMCA I get access to ActivTrax. You can configure it a ton of ways...but out of the box so to speak is stupid easy! You do an initial strength test and then it will formulate a full body workout plan. Each day I go to the gym I open the app and it shows me the exercises I need to do, the amount of weights I need to lift, the number of sets and reps. Then I move on to the next one. You can set it up so that you are a at a specific gym or using just general weights (plates, dumbbells, etc). I think there is a setting for just resistance bands also. I think the program is specific to certain gym memberships though. Anyway...here is a snapshot at my workout for today. It looks more complicated than what it is. But when you pull it up on the phone...it really is simple! As you can see...I really suck at doing side oblique crunches.

Good stuff Don. That work out program looks similar to what the trainers at our gym use. I wonder if it is that program and if so I need to ask if I can download the app. I just pick up the paper each day and write in my reps etc.

Here are a couple screen shots of my work out for the day.

This will be a pretty quick entry as I have to run out the door in a few minutes. I have a therapy appointment and then off to get blood drawn for some routine labs. No pic today...but I'll try to snap one later tonight. Anyway...

Kicking off the final soap theme for the month of April.."Stop and Smell the Flowers" or "Spring Bouquet" I decided to go with the Lemon Rose Chypre. This is quickly becoming a favorite scent of mine. I am also finding that I might be gravitation toward scents that have a floral component to them. Just loving the scents that relate to geranium, jasmine, orange blossom, lily, honeysuckle, and so many more. The shave was a four pass shave today as I had about four days of growth on my face. Yup...I was lazy when it came to shaving lately. Anyway, My first WtG pass was on a bit more aggressive setting with my Progress. Then I dialed the razor down to a pretty mild setting. Did another WtG and then on to the XtG and the AtG. Ended up with a DFS Plus. Though now I am wishing I would have chased a little bit. A splash of the same named aftershave (who am I kidding...several splashes) and the menthol hit me like a wall of ice. It actually felt good this morning!

Anyway...off to my appointments. Hope the Cadre starts their week off splendidly!
