TV Shows

I told my wife I haven't been this upset for a sitcom to end since Seinfeld. The Big Bang was the perfect show. Sad to see it end. But they did it the right way.

Started watching the...what I presume to be...final season of Agents of Shield. I don't know...it seems to have lost that...something that attracted me to it when it first came out. I'll watch it to finish the season. But two episodes into it and I am not all that impressed.

I have been watchin "What we do in the Shadows" on FX. I saw the movie a while back and thought it was one of the funniest things ever. The show, while it has different characters, ,is still done in the same spirit. I can't stop laughing when I watch it.

With you on Agents of Shield. It started getting pretty convoluted after the second season. Too much going on with too thin of a storyline. Though, the Fitz/Simmons side plot did give it a boost for a bit.

I was actually okay with everything until last season. I think the show could have been good if they could have portrayed the Cree like in the Marvel movies. But everything got incredibly cheesy. And honestly the story line just didn't jive. It's in a really early spot on Friday, so like I said, pretty sure this is the last season.

Watched the first three episodes of Good Omens last night. I am in love with this show. I know some may consider it dry and slow...but it is just my kind of snark and wit. David Tennant is just really good in everything he does! How is he not more famous than he is? Okay...yeah I know he has done a lot...and likely best known has Dr. Who (I liked him best as Kilgrave in Jessica Jones)...but it is mostly UK stuff and a lot of what he has done runs really far under the radar. Anyway, if you are a fan of dry wit and humor...yeah...check out Good Omens.

was planning to start that sometime this weekend myself.

Also, David Tennant is probably my favorite doctor so far. Perfect balance of funny and serious .

Finished up Good Omens. While I understand that it may not be everyone's cup of tea...I really liked it...a lot. Thought the acting was superb and everything just kind of fit together very nicely. I kind of reminded me of a more modern version of some older BBC shows. At any rate...thought it was great. If you are a fan of dry wit and humor. This might be a show for you.

i also finished it up last night. They did a fantastic job following the book. May be one of the best adaptations i have ever seen. and like you said, acting was great. sounds like they are not currently planning a second season but haven't said its never going to happen either. There was supposed to be a second book but one of the authors moved from the UK to the US and they just haven't written it... yet. i'm guessing there is probably a solid outline for the story though.

Yeah, Neil Gaiman is the Author that moved to the US. Terry Pratchett...the other author...died in 2015 from Alzheimer's complications. So I doubt there will be a second book...though it's always a possibility. Seriously, the interview I listened to of Neil Gaiman was just really emotional. Beside the fact that Gaiman states that Pratchett and him were really close friends, the interview really expressed how deeply connected the two were. I would love for there to be a second season...especially since the current season only had six episodes. But honestly, I am really happy with the stand alone as it is. It's funny...and I am sure it is meant to be that way...but I sense that the main characters of Good Omens, Aziraphale and Crowley, are representatives of Gaiman and Pratchett...though, who is who is anyone's guess.

Watched the first two episodes of Jessica Jones last night. Have to watch a couple more to see where it’s headed. So far I’m interested but reserving recommendation. Interesting enough, I heard about it on a pipe and tobacco podcast while they were talking about whiskey. Jessica is quite the drinker.

I liked that one ok. Daredevil and Iron Fist are really good and so is Defenders which is a crossover of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist

All the shows have their moments for me, some more than others. Haven’t been able to see Daredevil yet. Overall I feel like they try to reach the epic heights of the movie franchise, but end up lackluster more often than not. The writing just isn’t there and frankly some of the major characters are not appealing with their current actor. Luke Cage is probably the best of the group for me so far. Ward was the best thing to come out of Iron Fist. Malcom is probably the best of the Jessica Jones lot.

First season of Jessica Jones was my second favorite of all the Netflix Marvel series! The other two seasons of JJ are okay and worth a watch...but a lot of people don't like her attitude. I do...that's just me.

Daredevil in each of the seasons are really good for half the season and then for some reason I lose interest. It's a shame because I LOVE Charlie Cox as Daredevil. He plays that part incredibly well.

I know a lot of people did not like Iron Fist, and I will admit that I think it could have been better. But to be honest...I took it for what it was...a fun little series. I liked it a good bit but but can't say it was great.

Man I wanted to really like Luke Cage, because I thought that his character is a really good one. I forced myself to watch the whole first season...but could only watch a couple of the second. For me, it seamed like the makers tried WAY to hard to fit it into the Blackploitation genre.

As much as I liked Jessica Jones Season one...the best of all the Netflix Marvel shows is hands down The Punisher. Jon Bernthal is AMAZING!!! That show is a very intense, very graphis and adult show. It is definitely not for the light of heart or if you are keeping the kiddies from this kind of stuff...wait until they are at a sleep over. But the show is worth a watch a few times over. It's sad that this version of the Punisher is gone forever, but on the upside...Jon Bernthal is contracted to play in the Sopranos sequel that will come out who knows when!

We started watching The Boys on Amazon Prime. Not sure yet on it.

I watched this last week and I definitely see where some may not like this. But I thought it was a very interesting take on the Super Hero genre. I thought is was a really good show. A second season was commissioned even before the first season release. So I will be looking forward to it.

Very interesting take on super heroes for sure. Just at times the nudity and language can be a little over the top and doesn't add to the story. But overall I would say I'm enjoying it.

Been watching The Rook on Starz. I was really ify after the first episode and after the second episode I was on the fence. But for some reason the third episode really caught me and now I am in full watch mode. It's a slow build drama/mystery with bouts of action. Based off the book of the same name by Daniel O'Malley. This series seems that it lends itself to a good bokk...I just might pick it up.

The story starts off with a woman that wakes up in the rain and can't remember who she is with several dead strewn about. She tries to figure out who she is and what has happened. This is a world were certain individuals have abilities. Think X-Men...but more subtle. I am only about four episodes in...and I don't think I am ruining it for anyone...but the main subject centers around human trafficking...specifically the buying and selling of people with abilities.

Definitely worth the watch if you have Starz.

Well the ending of The Boys was a tad predictable. Will be interesting what they do with Season 2. We started Daredevil on Netflix. I know there are a few Marvel series on Netflix. We haven't done any of them. What other ones are worth investing time to watch? First episode of Daredevil was really good I felt.
