Trials of a woodpusher: Adventures in chess, backyard gardening, and maybe whisker chopping

I wrote the last of my final exams for my accounting program this afternoon. School is now done and i just need to wait until the 29th for marks to be released for it to be official. Took two of my classmates out for Mexican as an end-of-college meal and we will try to get together at least once a year going forward. I had Britanny (smart cookie!) believing that deep fried ice cream was handheld while plunged into oil; the server was a quick learner and played along right from the start as well. 🤪

Also had a great interview with the CFO of a SME this morning at 8; he said he would hire me on the spot but the owner would kill him if he only interviewed one person, even if I am the only application they have received in the week they have advertised the position. From a 10,00 ft level, I hope they get more applicants so they can ensure they get the right person (me, hopefully!), but from a selfish perspective, I hope nobody else applies. LOL

Did that bad on the exam huh?😋

Sam, that's an astounding number of games. My son played competitively for a couple of years, reached about 1200, I recall, then drifted away from it. I see you like floral-scented soaps. So do I. The Black Rose Oud is great stuff; I will get the Carnation one day. Sorry to hear your retirement was so short-lived. Good luck with the job prospect!

The mailman brought me some goodies from the Yard Sale, which included a B&M soap that smells simply wonderful! I have not tried B&M yet, even as a sample, so along with the CBL and Lisa's, this will be a new experience for me. Thanks @NurseDave for the very welcome addition to my den. 🕺

Well, that didn't take long....

Just signed up to take my 1st of three courses to get my level-1 Payroll certification.
One night per week, so I should be done in a year from now. Hopefully, I will also have a good chunk of the required payroll work experience under my belt by the time that is done. If not, there's a 5-year window to accrue 1 year payroll experience.

Well, good? Sounds like that's going to be helpful for you, but mercy man. I don't know if I could stay awake though that!

It wasn't in my initial plans, but so many accounting jobs around here want that payroll certification (PCP), even if the position barely touches payroll, that it only makes sense to get it as fast as I can.

As part of SWMBO's Christmas present, we went downtown yesterday to see this...

A wonderful 2.5 hours that literally was raising the hair on my arms a few times during the performances. I have not enjoyed a show this much since seeing Fiddler on The Roof.

Over the summer, we plan on catching a few shows elsewhere (Shaw Festival in Niagara, and out in Stratford).

What? I didn't know this was a thing! A little known fact about the man that calls himself dangerous...I LOVE the music of Carole King!

People don't realize how far reaching her songs are. Much of the music made popular by other artists like Aretha Franklin, James Taylor, The Beatles, The Monkey's, Herman's Hermits, and so many others, were her songs. Of course the Big one is probably Natural Woman that Aretha did, but I love Up on the Roof, So Far Away, Will You Love Me Tomorrow, Just Once in My Life...and so many more!

Yeah, I totally geeked out on this post!

Don, the storyline arc went from how she sold her first song up to her Tapestry release. You might need to take a trip somewhere to see it, but I would not have any objection to spending the bucks again in a few years if they revisit (this is their 2nd run in Toronto) and SWMBO wanted to see it again.

Looks like Dallas in June and Ft. Worth next March are the closest to me. The wife has relatives in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area so this is completely doable! Thanks Sam for the mention! I know this isn't the music of my generation...but man do I like me some Carole King!
