Tom's Journal about Shaving and other good stuff

Beautiful picture Tom! Pasteurs blew me away the first time I went there as well...I'm going to have to stop there again on my way through...this time I won't walk out empty handed!

Ah... that's right you committed the ultimate sin in wetshavedom! And to think I had forgotten!

Awesome shave. And not sure how anyone could go in that store and spend less than $100

Great shave and pics. You definitely have more willpower than I think I would have.

Nice, Tom. And excellent will power!

Love that black and white pic...just really nice! And seriously...quit teasing us with the promised land. I am destined to wander for 40 years in the wilderness!

Holy moly! How does one walk out of 2nd heaven with so little?!

HAHAHA I have definitely tamed the acquisitions and done a good job with taming my wants vs needs. It is a wet shaver's paradise though.

I'm so glad NYC is over 4 hours away, and a PITA to get in and out of, else I would be broke. Just as glad that they do not have a store is State College.

You have more will power than I do. Just the availability to sniff all of them would be overwhelming to me.

I swear I just heard Angel's Singing and trumpets..... Anyone else have this sudden feeling to book a flight to NYC, Great photo Tom

Great shave and read Tom, and thanks for the kind words. Man, I was very literally drooling from those pics, and have no idea how you walked out of there without enough stuff to require a carrier for your bags lol.

Someday I will make a trip to NYC, but until then I'll have to make due with trips to Chicago. But that's 6 hours away.

Caught up on some great stuff, Tom! I know that the nest time I go to NYC that I have to make a stop at the Promised Land, and the pics you shared make that even more clear. I may even schedule time to meet up with the Boys from The Holy Black!

4) Kissed the wife good bye today and she says "I don't like that smell."

Anytime I hear this I think "great, I just wasted another $20.00!"

Been a month huh? Crazy how time flies and you have no idea where it went.

MAJOR UPDATE:
The lost bag of my shaving gear has been found. Now I don't have to run and spend $$$$ on blades and new DE razors! WOOHOO! Y'all were right that it was in the one place I would have least expected it. It was in dual storage that goes under the sink cabinet in one of the guest bathrooms. I guess with the SWMBO was putting things away, that bag went along with it. I can now breathe a little easier. A celebratory PIF may be in the works but I'll get to it when I can.

So I have been shaving 2-3x a week just because I've been a bit lazy with the morning routine. The General is now accompanied by the Razorock Slant. I did end up switching up the General's blade with a new Kai blade. Man a new blade makes a lot of different.

Earlier this month, I signed up the SWMBO for the MSF class to get her motorcycle license. We also ended up getting her a bike, a Yamaha R3. She has always wanted to ride and we finally bit the bullet. Now I can't have her have all the fun right? So I am scheduled to take the class this weekend. This is another rabbit hole I am diving into. LOL Fascinating world and very niche especially in the NJ/NY area I am in. We plan to get me a bike at some point so instead of hunting for razors and the like, I have been glued to eBay, craigslist, and cycletrader for bikes that interest me. I think I narrowed it down and I really want a Yamaha V Star 250. I don't need the speed but know that I will need to ride highway at times. Plus, I can't get a bike that the SWMBO can't lift, granted I don't know if I will be able to pick up a 500-700 lb monster either.

One of the fun parts was picking out my gear since protection is important. Since I love the retro style, I got myself one of these helmets;

The rest of the rig is pretty modern since I got mesh/tech material since the summers here are are pretty brutal and humid. When it gets a bit cooler, a nice leather jacket may be in play.

I'll try to check in more often. Hope y'all are doing well and enjoying the summer!

Glad the stuff was found! Happy to hear that you are having a good summer. Hope to see you around more.

Awesome stuff Tom, glad you were able to find your gear! GL with the MSF course for you and SWMBO.

A motorcycle license is one of those things on my long term bucket list. It just looks like so much fun!

Glad you’re getting yours done and that you and the missus have another topic to rally around!

Big sigh of relief with you, that your gear was found safe!

Man, that didn't take too long to get to after getting married. It's just a slow slide down to wearing a Cheetos stained undershirt around the house. Just sayin'.

Tom, make sure you look at a 650 as well, and ride both of them before you decide. I initially really wanted a 250, but others convinced me to look at the 650. They said I would outgrow the 250 really quick. Deep down I knew that they were right. I recently purchased a V-Star 650 (my first bike) and just love it.

The 250s are what we rode in the MSF course, and are fun little things, but just feel like toys. If you are just using it as a commuter, and don't plan on doing much highway driving, then it would probably be fine. I've been riding for about 2 months and have put over 1000 miles on it so far. Would have been a lot more, but I haven't been able to ride in about a month. Really miss it.

And my helmet...
