There and Back Again, A Wet-Shaver's Tale

Lol it was nothing like that, thought There have been a few times with both Fine and Clubman aftershaves that were pretty similar. More of a manly bellow than a shriek. That's my story and I'm stickin to it.
Kamisoris are such cool looking shaving instruments. I wonder how long they've been around?

I looked it up: they date back to pre-Samurai Japan, when Korean missionary monks brought the razors with them.

That is one of the few articles on kamisoris that I didn't read when I was considering pulling the trigger on one lol. I did get a lot of the same info from the ones I did check out though. It really is a different animal from a western straight razor, though there are obviously some similarities as well.

Razor
: Otto Busch World Master
Brush: TSC 2nd Anniversary
Soap: @LNHC Somali Rose
Aftershave: @LNHC Somali Rose

Pulled out one of the finest soaps out there to test the edge on the World Master. This is the 2nd razor I've finished on the ancient ocean jasper that @DeepSea is letting me try out. I went through my usual synthetic progression up to 8k, then ran it over the jasper with water only while watching an episode of Breakout Kings. Probably got through half the episode before I realized I was still honing the darn thing and figured that would be good enough. The stone has a nice buttery feel to it that I find relaxing, but the edge it can put on a razor is what really matters.

Lathered up this amazing smelling soap with my 2nd Anniversary brush. Man, whoever made these really knew what they were doing... 🤪. Three passes and a fantastic DFS+ later I can call the edge this stone imparted to be very good. The ATG on my upper lip and under the lower lip are the real test and it did a fine job on both. Plenty sharp and smooth enough that there was no fluid loss or irritation. So the stone is a good finisher. I'll test out the claims that the back side can be used as a mid range stone next.

I applied the flocking on my third cigar/straight razor storage box today, and I have high hopes for it. Used a spray enamel instead of the branded adhesive undercoat. I'll post pics eventually. Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Razor
: The Halma Shear & Razor Works PEP
Brush: Stirling boar
Soap: WCS Oriental
Aftershave: Floid Mentolado Vigaroso

You know you have too many straight razors when you have one that you purchased shave ready several weeks ago and are just now getting around to using it. The PEP was advertised as having been finished on a Jnat, and the signature hazy finish on the edge seems to verify that. It was popping hairs like a boss on the HHT so I had good hopes for it's performance, and it did not let me down. Three passes left me with a very nice DFS+, and a hefty glug of Floid capped things off nicely.

The latest cigar box came out the best so far. It looks like using spray paint is a winner for smaller areas. It also takes less time to dry, which is a plus. The last bit of excess flocking still needs to be brushed/blown out, but you can get a good idea of how it looks already.

I also stopped by another cigar shop and asked about empties for sale. He took me into the back room, and there were so many I didn't have time to go through them all. I did grab a few nice ones, but the best by far was this one.

Razor
: Genco Easy Aces
Brush: Sorrentino Turquoise
Soap: PAA Atomic Age Bay Rum
Aftershave: PAA Atomic Age Bay Rum

Winner of a shave today. Man I love this Easy Aces! The software and hardware combined to deliver a fantastic three pass BBS. A massive glug of AS followed it all up and I left the shave den feeling and smelling amazing.

Easy Aces are certified "Skippy" razors. Genco's deliver in general. But the Aces look good while doing it.

Certified "Skippy" by Ken? Major endorsement, my friend. (y)
The Easy Aces are fantastic for sure. I looked for a decent one on and off for years, and just recently found this one on the bay. It had such a low BIN price that I must have caught it shortly after it was posted, because I've seen them for for 3x as much.

Razor: Ender's Speed Razor
Blade: Taconic injector
Brush: TSC 2nd Anniversary
Soap: Wholly Kaw Fougere Bouquet
Aftershave: Wholly Kaw Fougere Bouquet

First time using the Ender's today, with an insert that allows it to take injector blades that was sent to me by a good friend, Dave in KY. This is a pretty impressive shaver that can be found on the cheap. It is very intuitive, and makes it tough to nick yourself while still giving an close and efficient shave. Got a nice two pass with some clean up BBS while enjoying the scent and performance of this fantastic soap. It makes me think of a somewhat earthy Clubman. Great stuff for sure.

Razor
: Rockwell 6c
Blade: Wizamet
Brush: Sorrentino Turquoise
Soap: CBL Orion California Sunrise
Aftershave: CBL Tonic
EDP: Amouage Sunshine Man

The Rockwell 6c is my go-to when I either can't decide which shaver I want to go with or when I want an easy BBS. Put the 4 plate on it and it is the the absolute best razor I have ever used for a shave that doesn't require much concentration but gives an excellent result every time. Got a fantastic two pass + clean up BBS. A bit of the tonic, and a couple sprays of Sunshine to cap it off. Such...amazing...juice! Smells fantastic and I can still smell it about 15 hours later.

Razor: O.R.E.N.
Blade: ProGuard
Brush: Stirling boar
Soap: Wholly Kaw Fougere Bouquet
Aftershave: Wholly Kaw Fougere Bouquet

Excellent shave with some excellent hardware and software. Three pass plus clean up BBS with no trouble. The medium head on the O.R.E.N. is very much on the mild side. I need to get around to putting the aggressive head on and putting it through it's paces.
