Tropical Triple Cream | Colonial General Brass | Feather Pro-Guard (4)
Currently on Shave #583 | Straight shave still at #359

I had such a good shave with the General yesterday, I decided that I would break it out again today for another shave. As far as soap is concerned, I decided that I wouldn’t. Instead, I reached for some cream; three in fact. It’s been over a year since I’ve done this, but it’s one of the more enjoyable scents that I’ve experienced in wet-shavedom. I take a tube of TOBS Coconut, TOBS Grapefruit and Castle Forbes Lime and combine them in one lather. The result, as long as you add more Coconut than Grapefruit, ends up being a wonderful tropical scented lather.

Today was absolutely no exception. It whipped up quickly with the TSC legacy brush, and three quick passes later, and a clean-up on the neck, I was sitting DFS+ all over with nary a hint of irritation or feedback from the alum. I topped off with some Stirling Iced Pineapple splash, and forewent any fragrance. I’m getting hits of the pineapple, and surprisingly the coconut is still coming out every so often, and this is 2+ hours after the shave. Impressive indeed! Another good start to the day!

Thanks for reading, have a great day!

Okay...now I want to go buy a bunch of creams...is that wrong? I have the TOBS Lime that TJ gave me...so I am a third of the way there...sort of...good stuff today Josh!

The tubes aren't too terribly expensive, and are easily stored. can't say as much for the CF, but you already have a lime cream, so you're covered there.

Heh, I looked at the photo before reading your post and was like "what the????". Whatever works for ya buddy.

Clown puke.... fascinating concept. I may give this a whirl but I think I gave away most of my samples. May have some laying around somewhere. Also, that brass general makes me giddy. I have the black one but have always wanted the brass.

Thanks Tom! The clown puke is a great soap...start building as you go if you're short on samples. You could also take little dabs out of other soaps you have. *shrug*

I have the black General as well, but I can't get myself to use it since the Brass version shaves so well!

Superlather wins again!

Sounds like another fun concoction Josh. Hope your day is going well too!

Saponificio Varesino Stella Alpina | Friodur 472 6/8” Straight
Currently on Shave #584 | Straight shave #360

A day that’s chalk full of activities, a late wake up…yeah, let’s grab a straight razor!

As stated, it’s going to be a full day, so once this is posted, there won’t be much in the way of communication on here. I did wake up late, and still decided to go ahead with the planned straight razor shave and some Stella Alpina action. A great shave resulted after three passes, DFS-. No frag today, just using the Stella Alpina. The alum did give a little bit of feedback in a couple of spots, indications that I was a little aggressive in pressure or angle. But other than that, a very healthy dose (4x applications) of the aftershave left me smelling good and my face nice and soft.

Video is up and ready, though no lather cam since I was a little scatter brained this morning. All good. Face lathering is the only way I can get SV to perform to its potential, and this morning was no exception. Almost makes me want to make it a Tier 1 box 2 soap, but the fact that my preferred method, bowl lathering, really isn’t an option, has me knocking it down to a box 3 or 4 soap. The beta 4.3 version is a better and easier lathering soap, truth be told. (this was the beta 4.2 version of the soap base) And no...Murphy didn't show his ugly face today.

Thanks for reading, have a great hump day!

I love reading your posts Josh! You are like a mystery box...I never know what you are going to shave with next. And with the variety of gear you have...it's never a disappointment. And for the record...I really like the way your Shavemac looks. I know it's not overly fancy...but the contrast of those colors is very attractive!

Nice shave Josh kicking Murphy to the curb for a win !!

Thanks Dave! I was pleased he decided to run.

L&L (Declaration) Grooming Southern Paradise | C.V. Heljestrand Mk*31
Currently on Shave #585 | Straight shave #361

After yesterday’s kerfuffle of a day, I was able to drag myself out of bed on time and get my shave in without having to rush anything. I selected some top tier software in L&L Grooming Southern Paradise and matched it up with Ariana & Evans Asian Plum aftershave. Hardware consisted of the Excalibur Rustics Macassar Ebony brush refinished by our own Eric Sorrentino (Smattayu), and fitted with a 24mm cashmere knot, while the razor was the C.V. Heljestrand Mk*31.

Lather was the typical Declaration Grooming…it’s incredibly creamy, almost to the point one could describe it as “goopey”. All it takes from that point is a little face lathering to work air in and you have one of the best and most protective lathers around. Today was no exception. Three passes, with a couple of spots where I got a little careless with pressure. Nothing the aftershave and alum couldn’t take care of, and no blood offering. Topped off with the Tom Ford Plum Japonaise, and all was right to start the day.

Thanks for reading, have a great hump day!
