The wonderful excesses of acquisition disorders...and wet shaving

Video should be up and posted. I accidentally muted the intro music...but the audio is working for the rest of it just fine. Not going to go back and re-render the video and upload a fresh copy. Too much bandwidth used. *shrug*

Great shave, read, and picture Josh! Always nice when the results are better that you thought they would be.

Lisa’s Natural Herbal Creations Gentleman’s Lavender | C.V. Heljestrand Mk*31
Currently on Shave #544 | Straight shave #337

Welcome to a new week everyone! With a new week starting, I figured it was only fitting that I try a new soap out. Not that I ever need a reason to do so…yeah, not really any correlation there what so ever. Ok, let’s try again…

Since it was Monday, everyone’s favorite day, I figured what better way to spruce it up was to use a new soap! Wait…every day is the same out here. Mondays are no better or worse than any other day out here. *sigh* Ok…one more time.

Ok, new soap today, from the first vendor on our wonderful forum, Lisa’s Natural Herbal Creations. Today’s soap was Gentleman’s Lavender, in her standard base. This is in a different tub than the Somali Rose I have in the same base formula, deeper with a smaller opening. The soap lathered up just like remembered Somali Rose doing, and gave a great lather for the Heljestrand to play around on. I did another video first impression and review, which should be posted here shortly. Three passes left me DFS with a little bit of feedback from the alum which I’m going to attribute to maybe the blade needing some additional work. It’s got a decent edge, but I think I can refine it even further with a little work on the JNAT.

Followed up with the matching elixir. This is some great stuff! It felt a little oily immediately upon application, but very quickly was soaked into the skin and left my face feeling awesome! Lisa, you make some amazing products!

Topped off with some Endymion, and as Tim says, everything was “right as rain”.

Have a great day everyone!

Nice Josh. I was curious about the elixir. Sounds like it soaks in and feels good without being oily or greasy feeling after. That's what I like and will need to get some. Have a great day !!

Great stuff Josh! Really enjoying the videos and the reviews!

Thanks Chad!

Thanks Dave! The elixir is very nice!

Small mail call came in today from WCS...

Topic for next video, upon seeing your mail call (maybe for the radio show too?): Non-alcohol witch hazels vs “genuine” witch hazels. Does it matter? Is there a performance difference?

TBH, I don't have an opinion there, as the only witch hazel's I use are non-alcoholic. (Thayers Cucumber toner and Stirling unscented WH)

Oh come on! The most buyingest traditional shaver on the planet hasn’t splashed generic stinky sock hazel on his face yet?

Thanks Chad!

When WCS saw such a small order from you they probably had their feelings hurt and wondered what they did to be so insulted by you !!

Nice shave. I haven't had a chance to watch any videos lately. May have to rectify that at some point.

Wickham 1912 WCS Le Bleu | ERN 204 5/8” Shoulderless
Currently on Shave #545 | Straight shave #338

What a shave this morning…not because it was one of the best ever, but it was very strange. The lather that the Wickham gave up seemed to be one of those “grail” lathers. But regardless of how full and voluminous the lather seemed, it just had no cushion. No matter what I did, the cushion never really got to that “great/excellent/elite” level. Everything else was either very good to elite level, which is why it’s so disappointing.

The ERN was in great form this morning, wiping the whiskers away with much aplomb. Three passes, no clean-up and I was left with a DFS+ face. I don’t have the Bleu de Chanel EdP, so grabbed the Polo Blue EdP instead, it having a similar DNA to the BdC.

The video is uploaded, and it’s quite a bit longer than usual. I thought I had all the kinks worked out, but apparently some of the clips/layers shifted to the left a little, and it’s not quite synch’d up like I wanted. Oh well. If you miss perfection, there’s always next time.

All in all, a good day and shave.

Have a great day everyone!

Watching your video now, and I must tell you I am rather upset with you. Why did you have to make it work? This is one I always figured was overpriced, overhyped, and I could just shy away from it. And now it is added to my want to try list. Darn you JOSH!!!! CURSES!
