The wonderful excesses of acquisition disorders...and wet shaving

Ever since you mentioned having to ship all this stuff back home, I keep thinking that for every mail call you get, it's another box back home!

Getting caught up great stuff Josh.

Thanks Chad!

Great shave Josh.

Congrats on the b-day and mail call!

Thank you Chris!

LOL...that's what tough (gorilla) boxes are for! The tough part is going to be the aftershaves when it's time to go home.

Great reads. Finally caught up. I am glad that they found out what was wrong with your daughter and were able to treat it. That kami may be dangerous, but it is quite the looker. Great mail calls.

Man...now that is what I call a Birthday Shave! Such great elements to that shave!

Some very liberal use of the aftershave (10 glugs into the hand?) and a few vasiliy’s of the Amouage…can you say happy? Very pleasant all the way around!

I bet you smelled wonderful ALL DAY LONG! I think that might be an understatement of liberal usage!

Thanks Don! The aftershave lasted a while, but the EdP lasted about 14 hours!

Oleo Soapworks Sandy Cheeks | C.V. Heljestrand No. 7
Currently on Shave #538 | Straight shave #333

An unexpectedly rushed shave this morning, (it didn’t keep me from recording), but it ended well. This morning was another new soap, Oleo Soapworks Sandy Cheeks. I’m batting .500 with Oleo so far. One soap was wonderful (Rougere) and another, while a phenomenally good scent, didn’t agree with my skin at all. Unfortunately, this is another that just doesn’t agree with my skin. What started out as a couple of ghost tingles, by pass three were full on “get this stuff off of my face”. It’s another one that’s unfortunate, because this really is a good scent. It’s not exactly what I would think of if you told me to think of sun tan lotion by the beach, but at the same time, I’ve spent enough time at beaches to be able to draw the correlation. (I’m more of an Hawaiian Tropics guy, myself)

Three passes and I’m CCS+/DFS-, but happy with the result. I followed up with the Omega Aquae Serum and the matching balm. Topped off with some Tommy Bahama St. Barts, and it was a good tropical citrus start to the morning.

No mail today folks…maybe tomorrow. LOL.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes yesterday!

Thanks for reading and have a great day everyone!

What?! No mail call?!

Bummer about the soap irritation! Glad you still pulled out the shave win though.

Fine American Blend | Colonial General Brass | Feather Professional Super (3)
Currently on Shave #539 | Straight shave still at #333

Finally…a shave I didn’t have to rush. Of course, it was one of my fastest shaves in a while. That figures. But what a shave!

First, a very Happy 4[sup]th[/sup] of July to everyone back in the states…we have a Brit that we work with over here and we’re making him wear a shirt claiming “Happy Treason Day”. It’s quite funny.

So on to the shave. There aren’t very many soaps that scream out America to me quite like Fine’s American Blend. So, with that being said, I went ahead and lined up the soap, aftershave and EdP. There was also only one brush I could have chosen, my Wolf Whiskers Blackwolf with the “American Flagpole” theme. As for the razor, I felt going with anything other than an American made razor would just be sacrilegious. I wasn’t feeling the straight, and with the way things have been going the past few days, I was almost positive I would be rushed…so I went with a safety razor, going with the Colonial General Brass. It was already loaded with a Feather Super, so I went with it. (that was the only non-US item in the shave)

The shave, with prep and clean-up included, only took 20 minutes. That’s for three passes AND a clean-up pass on the neck. The result? BBS- all over…amazing! I should have filmed it, but just wasn’t feeling making the video this morning. I will say one thing for the Fine soaps…they might not be as slick as some of my other soaps in the den during the shave, or nearly as moisturizing, but the cushion, latherability and residual slickness are about as good as it gets. Awesome stuff!

To end, I’ll just say….’MURICA!

Thanks for reading and have a great day everyone!

So it looks like Oleo Soaps are going to be a bust. Sorry about that, but such are the ways of shaving. Fine American Blend was my favorite after shave scent three months into into traditional wet shaving. It's still top three at the least and it might be a tie for the number one spot! Was super happy to discover that Fine Accoutrements made the EdT!

I love the humor with your Brit Friend! Sounds like something that I would do. Thanks for doing what you do and I hope today is a peaceful one. I remember my time in the 'Ghan and unfortunately the fourth wasn't a holiday for us. Keep alert and stay safe my friend.

Great American shave today. That is hilarious about the shirt and your friend.

Gotta snag a photo of the shirt! I’d totally wear something like that, lol!

Good shave Josh. Have a safe 4th!

Been there man. I took a full Den over there with me, and brought at least 3 times that back. But looking at your mail calls.... I’m pretty sure you’ve got me beat. Maybe get 3 gorilla boxes!

Catching up Josh!

Some great shaves, reads, reviews, and pictures!

Might I suggest bubble wrap and masking tap on the lids.

Basically from what I understand is that Ebonite is hard synthetic rubber.
