Ok, Gin Sling Willy is ready ( test shave 1.15.2021 ) . Also joining @Spider in the one blade challenge, as well and will be using the same complete set up ( brush, soap, razor, blade, Aftershave, EdT ) for the Feb Challenge as well.

I’ll try the one blade challenge. I’ve always wanted my face to look like a tomato [emoji534].

Here’s my main ingredients. Trying to get the menthol back into my vintage Williams!

This message inside the flaps is what started the whole idea of a Williams 3017, several years ago.


Who else knew these flavors existed? I have them all, but rarely use them.




I decided to go with the fine side of my grater.


Since my AV menthol is in short supply, I only used 1 ounce. Put it in this shampoo bottle with a large menthol crystal to dissolve prior to mixing.


Also added 10 drops of both Ice Dragon and M-Bomb, and an ounce of WH.




Gave it all a good stir. Then will put the cap on for a couple days to let it all soak in.

It will absorb a bit of moisture overall, but its not too bad.

Made it back home this weekend so got my Willy going for February. After looking at my AS stock, I pulled an audible and went with a combo of Skin Bracer and Osage.

This was a couple of pucks grated, soaked, and in use for a little while. It's already absorbed water and was the consistency of butter so rather than try and grate up the very soft soap, I just used a plastic knife to slice it up.

Took a quarter cup of SB and quarter cup of Osage, mixed and poured over the buttery soap.

And now the waiting game begins. Not sure how much additional liquid will be absorbed so guess we'll see day by day!

It's been an interesting couple days for my Williams slurry. Grating a fresh puck and soaking like normal would have been easier but I really wanted to use up what I had already previously ground so just gonna have to work with whatever comes of it!

Around dinnertime last night, it both looked and had the consistency of what can only be described as those old lime Jell-O rings my grandma used to pick up from the local grocery chain.



Went in today at lunch to check up on it, and it had a much more cottage cheese like consistency. You can even see some of the blue menthol showing as liquid continues to evaporate away.



Used the knife to continue breaking up the larger pieces of soap and gave it a nice stir. Looks more like a soft cream than soap now. Will be interesting to see how it progresses as more liquid evaporates.

Depends on a few factors, like how fine you grate your soap and how much aftershave you use. Mine was ready in just a few days.

My pucks and AS should be delivered on the 29th. Not sure that’ll be enough to start on the 1st. Maybe I’ll just join in late.

Good thing we’re starting on the 2nd!
You’ll have about 4 days. Plenty of time. Grate it fine, and use just enough AS to wet everything. No more than 2 ounces.
