The Williams Mug Soap 3017 Challenge..... A.K.A. (________) Willy!

Do you have a ring yet? Looks like she’s holding on pretty well!
Pffft I wish...[pic from todays SOTD] I have a feeling once it breaks through it will be done very quickly.

The Roasted Oatmeal Stout is calling my name! I don't mind the Williams 3017, because I know I can be done in a month, but this experience just proves to me how much I would hate to 3017 a normal soap, with a 2-6 month lifespan. Ugh, I can't even imagine how boring that would be.... and torture to not be able to use all the other stuff I have for so long!

The Green Chilly Willy is finished. Made it almost through the month and got fantastic shaves start to finish. Used almost exactly 4g / shave which is high but makes the 3017 go faster that is for sure!

Not going to lie, I'm excited to lather up Seaforth Spiced tomorrow morning...

Today, my ring groweth even smaller! I thought it was going to stay intact through loading, but at the very end, one small piece fell out. I grabbed that piece and smeared it on my face, like it was a shave stick. Used one of my Paladins to whip up some super awesome lather. The extra bit of face lathering really helped thicken up my lather a lot! As much as I want this 3017 to be over, I'm really enjoying the shaves I'm getting from the vintage Williams. And the slickness is really helping along my One Blade February Challenge. I've always said slickness was a key contributor to blade longevity. And Williams takes the cake on slickness. Few can compete to that level. Honestly though, I believe the modern Williams is even slicker than the vintage! Getting ready for new soap, hopefully this weekend. Got my eye on some CBL Soap and some Southern Witchcrafts. Been itching to lather those up lately. Finished up today's shave with the Thayer's Cucumber and then some Florida Water. I can't believe I didn't like that stuff at first, because it's a favorite of mine now.

Shave #20 on the vintage Willy today. It is down to just a small disk in the bottom of my milk glass shave mug. I think I am just a couple days away from finishing it.

I still am enjoying the results, although today's shave left my face feeling a little dry. Overall I would say that the vintage Williams is a good performing soap, but I am definitely feeling the lack of the extra goodies that modern artisan soaps provide. Perhaps I should pull out a puck of CBL Master Barber when the Willy gives out just to compare...

I'm down to just 3 little pebbles. I had a tough time getting a great load from the soap today even after loading for 120 seconds. I think I'll give it one more go tomorrow and then I'll dump the tiny remains into my clown puke tub. It's been good times, but I'm ready to move on to something new.

At the end of this, I've developed an appreciation for modern Williams, which I never had and I'm proud to say that I've tamed this soap.

Next up is to try out Fitjar Haven, Crabtree and Evelyn Sandalwood(Vintage), Yardley, Lentheric, and Art of Shaving Sandalwood(Tallow).

Don't worry about the 'S
Right? It's weird. This stuff seems to go so fast for me, until it gets close to the end. Then it seems to last forever! (I wish my Saint Charles Shave Fairway had that issue). I really thought mine would be gone by now, but it looks like it's going to hold on for a few more shaves and carry on until March. It's Madness I say! March Madness even!

It’s all over guys. I finished my Skinny Chilly Willy during last nights shave one tiny pebble made it into my clown Puke tub. I had to add a little bit of musgo cream to my brush to finish the shave after my first pass used up all the good lather.
Awesome experience and it took me 25 days to finish. I bet if it didn’t have any adjuncts and wasn’t shredded that it would have lasted at least a week longer. I know that I have a puck of vintage Williams that has at least 30 shaves on it right now and it likely has another month left in it.

Thanks @Spider

Last day of the month, time for a lather shot and final report.

I've really enjoyed doing this, and find the vintage Williams to be right up there once I realized it needs a bit more loading than I normally do to get the thick rich soap I enjoy.

It's really a nice contrast to modern artisan soaps. Seeing as the puck is probably only half done, I'll keep it up, but as part of my rotation, so probably 1-3 shaves with it a week till it's done and dusted.

I missed out on 7 shaves over the month of Feb so i put in 20 on the Silly Willy. a couple of those were due to busy/early starts on what would normally have been a day off so a shave just didn't happen. the rest were days i needed to take off because it seems that prolonged use of this soap was severely drying out my face, even after i realized this and started using some CBL oil after my shaves.

that being said, I will be seeing this 3017 through to the end but i don't think i will be doing another 3017 with this particular soap.

After my first shave with Black And Blue willy I have not used it again.. It Still has a very very strong scent to it so I might rate it again into another container and let it air out some more and then try it again... I Will wind up using it more !! Hey maybe ill try this puck again next year if its lost some of its scent by then...... 🤪
