I have had a few sporadic, undocumented shaves with the Creeper and some Phoenix and Beau Whitechapel since my last entry. Last night I decided to dig back in and get back to my every-other-night routine. I didn’t take a picture myself, but I had recently purchased a vintage stoneware bean pot to keep the three cans-worth of James & Artemus soap that I own. They soap popped pretty easily out of the plastic tins, and I pressed the three pucks into the bean pot, which you can see looks appropriately “western” in this photo from the Etsy seller where I bought it:
This allowed me to load the soap like I used to in other larger containers, and 20 seconds of loading was all it took to get me where I wanted. I used about a tablespoon and a half of water to whip up my perfect lather consistency, and with a lather plus hot towel soak I was ready to take on the whiskers. Of course the performance of the soap is just as amazing as always, and I got my 2PWCBBS (Two Pass With Cleanup Baby Butt Smooth) results with very little effort. I rubbed in lather for my overnight postshave, and spritzed on the matching EdP before I left for work today. The more I use this scent, the more I love it, and I can truly call it my signature fragrance. SWMBO loves it too, with the rose notes blending subtly into the bourbon, drying down to a smooth leather finish.
I plan to review my most recent pomade purchase soon, and I look forward to breaking out more of my favorite warm weather scents as the heat and humidity are climbing.
On the home front, we had an exciting weekend of car tire issues. On Saturday we found SWMBO had a completely flat front passenger tire, but we had to get to the In Laws’ house for some attic clearing so we took my car instead. I came home a couple hours later to meet AAA, expecting to put on the spare and drive to the tire repair shop, cursing my luck because my youngest and I had a date to see Solo at 5:10pm. Well, when AAA got there we were able to fill the tire with air and spot the leak. Looks like she picked up a nail which then popped out, because that little hole was WHISTLING. AAA plugged the hole and saved me a ton of time and the cost of a patch. I get free patches on my own tires because I bought them at the neighborhood shop with lifetime roadhazard coverage, but SWMBO got her tires at COSTCO back when we were members. Needless to say, this quick fix put me in a better mood.
But then, when I went to pick SWMBO up from the In Laws, as we pulled back into our neighborhood MY OWN TPMS sensor went off, telling me I had low pressure! I was floored, because I had had my right rear tire patched just a couple weeks earlier. Luckily, it looks like it was a random bad signal, because all my tires were perfect, and my son and I made it to the movie on time. Andrew and I absolutely loved the film, and I haven’t smiled so much at a Star Wars movie in a while. It was truly a lot of fun. Had a great weekend, and now I am rocking and rolling at work. Hope you all are having a great week!
Today’s song is some good music from a band I will be seeing live in August:
