The Journey of a Blind Squirrel aka Clint's Shave Journal

That's a pretty awesome handle, Clint. How is the Shavemac synth knot? I have not used one yet.

Sam, I bought the brush several years back on a Black Friday sale for about $60 or so delivered. I like the brush a lot. Having said that the Omega EVO at the same price is a better brush and the Simpson Trafalgar T3 beats the Shavemac on price and performance. In fact, I think the T3 might be the best brush given the price period and that is coming from somebody that absolutely loves the Simpson CH2 Synthetic brushes.

Interesting  ........ I think the CH2-synth is a home run, as is the Yaqi Sagrada synth. I just might have to look at the T3.

The T3 is a very nice brush. It is easily in my top 3 synthetics overall. When price is considered it is the clear winner for me.

A wet and rainy Sunday here in the ATL so I decided to break out with a lavender shave. I love the lavender medicinal scent of MdC. I find I enjoy MdC more when I take the time to add water slowly while face lathering. I always seem to get a wonderful shave whenever I use MdC and today was no exception. Three passes and touch ups just missed the baby. My lower right neck, aka my nemesis, helped the little guy escape. @primotenore Joesph scent along some Agua Lavanda Puig cologne. The cologne easily exceeded my expectations. I got the lavender but it is so much more. The scent opened up with a lavender herbal note that remains throughout but the warm musky base comes forward on dry down. This is some very good stuff. Thanks again Joseph. I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday.

AOS Bourbon Shave Cream
Small Batch Shave Tonic Winter Reserve

It is Monday again and entirely too soon. Weekends just seem way too short for me. I did work some over the weekend but I didn't get nearly enough done. I am making a real dent in this AOS Bourbon Cream. Honestly I am ready for it to be done and dusted. I like the performance but the scent is just a meh at best. I managed to catch the baby this morning. Of course I needed to really buff my lower right neck to get the little guy. I hope everyone has a great Monday. Take Care.

February 2022 Recap

Another month in the books. This year seems to be going by very quickly. During the month, I had several solid additions to the razor collection; the Supply Co. Pro, Karve Overlander and the Asylum Rx2. The Supply and Karve are both very easy to use and require little to no thought while shaving. The Asylum Rx2 is not a mindless razor. It has a narrow sweet spot and will bite if I don't pay attention. All three razors work very well for me and I am pleased with the additions. When I get the time, I need to move some razors along to better homes. I really enjoyed hanging out this month and look forward to participating next month as well. Thanks for having me and take care everyone.

Happy Tuesday Everyone! Back with the Karve Overlander again today. I have been using this Savonniere du Moulin quite regularly and seem to be making a serious dent in the soap. Lucky for me, I have a replacement waiting. Another automatic drama free shave to start the day. I took the time to buff my lower right neck and caught the baby with ease. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday. Take care.

Happy Thursday Everyone. I was so busy yesterday that I forgot to post in my journal. It was another automatic shave with the Karve Outlander. I decided to break out my Karve with the D plate for a comparison. Upfront both razors work very well for me. I have the original Karve with the D, E & F SB plates as well as the D OC plate. The D safety bar is my favorite of the group. The D has more blade feel than the Overlander and I found it a touch more efficient. I did end up with a weeper which was my fault. The Overlander requires zero thought from me while shaving. The D requires some thought but honestly its pretty much automatic for me as well. I expected I would notice more differences between the two razors than I did. Just goes to show how much I know. I hope everyone has a great Thursday.

Happy Friday Everyone! I will be happy to have this week in the books. Back with the Karve D plate for today's shave. After yesterday's refresher shave, today was an automatic drama free near perfect shave. The Karve D plate has always been one of my favorite razors and nothing has changed. Overall a great start to the day. I hope everyone has a fantastic Friday.

My Hone 15s arrived yesterday and given my complete lack of patience, I just had to use it this morning. A couple of thoughts on seeing the razor for the first time. I had always appreciated the design aesthetics from the various photos. The razor is even better looking in person. Its matte finish and minimalist design are fantastic. The 15s is heavy and feels solid in the hand. I went with a three pass shave with touch ups ending in a drama free BBS shave. The razor has a very wide sweet spot and depending on the angle there is some blade feel. The 15s was smooth and easy to use. I will continue to use it for this week at least. I hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday
