The Heysi Missive

This past weekend was fun. Left work before noon on friday and drove to LA to go to a minor league baseball game, The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes vs. some team that forgot how to hit. The first batter for the Quakes hit a towering homerun on the second pitch he saw and the onslaught was on from there. Final score was 11-1. The rest of the weekend was just about relaxing and celebrating Mother's day for my wife. She got to go with her friend to a tea where they had mini sandwiches and mini desserts and giant tea cups (Who knows?). I stayed behind and drank beer with my buddy. Then we took monday off and took our time driving home. It's no fun having to race back across the desert on sunday evening. This may be our new LA visit schedule. Our next LA visit is in a few weeks to see high school friends I haven't seen in over 20 years (including an ex-girlfriend). I may need more than just beer on that trip.

Shave Journal:

Same old.........I know...I said it before. The Williams 100 shave challenge is nearing its end. @Spider has completed his 100 and others are nearly done. I'll be bringing up the rear on this challenge because I missed a few days (11 days!!) when we were moving. But on the 27th I'll be finished with 100 shaves with the same puck of soap and the same blade. I'm feeling good that I didn't once feel like cheating and using any other soap or blade.

See ya Later!

So we're nearly done clearing the boxes from the Craft room (it's the wife's room....she can name it what she wants) and the Guest room is organized and cleared of all extra boxes.......so it was very nice to have finally located my Shave Den box. I thought I found it before but that box only had one razor and just a few misc items in it. The label on the outside was deceptive. But this box is the real shave den box (even opened it to confirm). Of course, I'm still in the process of the Williams 100 shave challenge so the contents of this box don't do me any good. By next month I'll be using all of the soaps and razors and brushes with abandon. The nice part is that I now have 2 weeks to set up the shave den before I actually have to use it. Moving sucks.

My Saturday was interesting. Got up, showered and shaved and started arranging boxes to open for the day. The wife got up and headed out to the front porch to have a smoke.....suddenly she's back at the front door telling me to come outside....and I can hear a strange sound...what is that? I ask...thinking it's a bird making some strange noise.......she tells me to look over the edge of the porch....it's a little kitten meowing its head off. Well....long story short...we have a new kitten. It's still pretty little and we're not 100% sure if it's a boy or a girl (at this age....it's a toss up). We have to take it to the vet sometime this week to check that its healthy (it sure acts and looks healthy) and we have to keep an eye out to make sure the 2 older cats don't beat the snot out of the little one....so far everyone is behaving and just sniffing at each other with occasional back-away hissing.

Yesterday was new kitten's first visit to the vet. Went well. Clean bill of health so far and first set of shots are in so that's all good.

Allow me to introduce....Keeley Jones....(bonus points if you know where that name comes from)...

She's about 9 weeks old and she's full of energy. The staff at the vets office all wanted to take her home. For now, she's starting to explore the house and meet her new sisters and dog brother. Our house is now full of lunging and attacking and running and jumping and random bursts of mayhem followed by cuddling and cuteness. The older animals just sit in amazement.

Shave Journal:

Today was shave #99 of the 100 shave Williams challenge. The soap puck is still going strong but the blade is about finished. I think the maximum number is probably somewhere around 95.....so the past few days have been a bit rough. But sunday morning will be a fresh new blade......and I'll probably take off the first layer of skin. I'll switch to a different soap for a day or two just to break out of the same old....but I'll stick with this puck until its completely finished to see how many shaves I can get out of it. It's been a fun challenge and I thank @Spider for initiating it. Taught me a new method and made me learn something.

See ya Later!

Wait, are your Williams shaves different from your blade shaves?

Nope. Its shave #99 with the blade and shave #99 with the Williams. Shave #95 is when the blade started being less than perfect. I'll finish the challenge out with this blade but I think from now on I can keep using a blade into the low 90's before I'll need to swap it out with a new one. Sorry if I confused you.

I hope Keely learns how to keep Old Man Murphy away from the shave area. I know already she will keep the Gnus and marauding Elk out of the house.
