The Heysi Missive

Steven later on in summer... 😁

That would be true.......but it will also be 120 F........so I'll be inside by the AC unit.

Oh....completely forgot to mention that I found a new barber to go to.

The girl that has been cutting my hair for the past 12 years vanished (was it something I said?) and I've been suffering through crappy $20 haircuts until this past weekend. I made an appointment with a great guy at a barbershop in downtown Vegas and what a difference it makes to go to a trained professional. From the pre haircut discussion about how I wear my hair each day to the hot lather/straight razor clean up around all the edges.....A top notch experience from start to finish. Our own trusty leader, @BarberDave has said before that only a trained Barber can give you the best haircut....and he's right.

Sounds like good (but achey) progress! I loved having a lemon tree in my backyard when we owned. Fig tree too! Once they were established they’re great producers!

That's the one thing I really miss about californina.....we had a lemon tree, an orange tree, a macadamia tree, and an avocado tree in Santa Monica. It's very hot here and not easy to get trees established. But this lemon is a hardy one.

Got the chance to use my new aftershave this morning.....

It smells fantastic!!!! I'm still about 35 shaves away from completing the Williams 100 shave challenge....and then I can try the soap (I know I only bought the sample puck but I'm waiting to see how well it works before I commit to a full size).

Besides....I'm currently in a temporary shave den. The permanent shave den is going in when we remodel the master bath. Until then....I'm sharing space with the wife, so I only have an area the size of a postcard (not literally but you all know what I mean).

Sat down last night to watch the final Mandalorian episode for the season. They continue to do great work on the Star Wars shows. I'm never disappointed. More Star Wars is better than less Star Wars.

See ya Later!!

I got to watch it too! Great episode…ended a bit mildly though. I have no idea where they’re going story-wise next 🤔

They announced that Dave Feloni is directing a film that will wrap up the Mandalorian/Boba Fett/Asoka story lines. So we have to wait a bit.

Is that with continued Mando seasons? Or it’s done until the movie and they’re moving on to Ahsoka?

I'm not sure of the full schedule but Asoka is later this year and Mando season 4 is rumored to be on the way. Word is the scripts have been written. The movie was only announced last week. No release date as of yet.

So.........I 've been reluctant to share this news until today:

A few weeks ago, my best friend took his own life. I've been dealing with the aftermath of that event and last night we had a memorial for him. It was very heartwarming to see so many people that he touched in his life with his humor and silliness. I was one of the people that gave a eulogy to him and I have to thank @GearNoir for giving me a great piece of advice that helped me to get through the speech and not sound terrible and awkward. I told 2 stories, one about how we first met back in 1985 and the second one about how he got the job he loved working at the Star Trek Experience as a Borg. The hard part was getting through the toast at the end of my comments. I got choked up for a moment and got a bit of dust in my eyes but I made it through. Most of the memories that people shared throughout the day were happy memories but as they showed a video retrospective of his life, right at the end, they played the bag pipe version of Amazing Grace from the funeral scene for Spock in Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan and I completely lost it. But it was rather poetic as right before I started my speech, I quoted the line that William Shatner says right before the bag pipes play.....so it made for a nice bookend to the day. I'm now best friend-less for the first time in 37 years.

Shave Journal:

Because of the many meetings and get togethers over the weekend in the run up to the memorial, I actually shaved every day this weekend!!!! Still the same setup (hardware & software) but it keeps giving me great shaves and we're not stopping until we at least hit 100 (I am tempted to see if I can go longer than @Spider ....but who am I kidding? That guy is legendarily the longest lasting guy in the Cadre.....(that sounds kind of dirty)). Anyway........the shaves helped to get me out the door each day when I really wanted to not leave my house and face the world on what I was worried would be a super sad weekend......I'd like to think that the shaves helped to prevent the sadness and kept me in a good place to remember all the good times...the silly times and just the fact that he was more than just a best friend....he was like a brother. I will miss him dearly.....but his memory will never fade.

See ya Later!

Glad you had a chance to honor the life and friendship of your buddy. Sorry for your loss Steven.
