The Heysi Missive

Ok.....I need some help from the scent gurus.....my wife was telling me last night that her grandfather always used Barbasol products when he shaved. So I'd like to find a soap and aftershave that has the classic Barbasol scent. I know that the canned cream is still available, but I've never used that junk so I'm not starting. But is there something that is a good tribute scent? I'd love to have a set to give her good memories of her grandfather (who raised her along with her grandmother after her parents were killed in a car accident).

So @BarberDave @GearNoir @NurseDave @Majorrich @Spider @MarkB what say you guys?

Be ready to shell out some coin The best on that was actually fashioned after it was YSL rive gauche pour homme in the Aluminum can no longer avail but on secondary market. On that is close is WSP Barpershop, to my nose as far a s a soap, aftershave the WSP barbershop is close my 2 cents anyway

I dont' know what smells like the Barbasol canned foam, but you can always go on the hunt for these...

Of course, now you're going to need to hunt down a Barbasol DE razor, a pack of Barbasol blades, and an old glass Barbasol brushless cream container..... you know, for your wife!

I’ve only done Fine American Blend, which has a good full set - soap, AS, and EDT. It’s basic, but it’s nice. Haven’t tried any others.

I’d say save the money and just go find the frag. YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme in a black and silver tin can or Tom Ford Beau De Jour (Tom Ford was the nose behind Rive Gauche, so there are striking similarities; BDJ is more lavender forward and stronger in scent, I may like it more than RG).

I'm not nearly the completist you are.

Ok....so that gives me a few options to look at. @Spider I hadn't even considered getting the current after shave. Thanks guys. I knew I could count on you guys.

....and I knew I could count on @NurseDave to make it super weird. NO SOUP FOR YOU!!!

The brisk is a classic scent, similar to Skin Bracer. The Pacific Rush is a more modern aquatic scent, but was discontinued. If you really want to try it, I might know a guy....

Just so you’re clear, the mentioned AS don’t smell like the OG Barbasol, IMO, they’re very different.

There’s a new Barbasol 1919 aftershave balm out also that’s supposed to have a more classic scent. I haven’t tried it.
