The Heysi Missive

Trip report:

Spent the past 5 days at my daughter's house in mid Tennesse. She lives about an hour west of Nashville. They have a really nice house and the dogs are happy to have a big yard to run in. She has a comfortable guest room set up for us and we slept well each night we were there. The purpose of the trip was to see the house and to have an early Christmas so we mailed all of the gifts ahead of time....we added some toiletry items to the box we sent (shampoo, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste) to leave there for future visits. I also sent along a full shave kit so I'm all set up in that department. By sending all of that ahead of time, we were able to just fly with a backpack each instead of luggage. It made everything so much easier going through the airport. I'd advise anyone traveling to try packing everything into a backpack. Waiting at baggage claim is such a time waster but we walked right past everyone and straight out to the car. In and out in only a few minutes.

While we were there, we sampled a few of the adult beverages that the area has to offer. We visited Beachaven Winery in Clarksville (we did NOT take the last train) and sampled a few of their wines. The cranberry wine was the most interesting. Then we stopped off at Star Spangled Brewing where I had a sampler of their beers. They have a Schwarzbier they call Dr. Jekyll and a Blonde Stout they call Mr. Hyde. They recommend ordering them together as a Black & Tan but I suggested they call it a Split Personality. I'll wait to see if they give me credit. Then we headed into the downtown area where we had dinner at Strawberry Alley Brewing. Had a sampler of their beers and found them to be quite delicious. Also had a great Chicken and Bacon Mac and Cheese. I fine afternoon was had by all.

For gifts, my wife received several nice shirts and some owl earrings (she loves owls). I received a shirt to wear during our upcoming visit to Disneyland and.......a Magic Band Plus!!!! (@NurseDave will be the only one to know why that's cool)

All in all, it was a great visit and we are planning to return in the spring time so we can venture out and about more. We also need to see the actual city of Nashville one of these times......not just the airport.

All for just $85 in USPS fees :ROFLMAO:

The wife gets good postage rates and we sent a really good sized box for less the $45. All future boxes will be smaller in size. It's the first shipment that kills the savings.

I do not recommend trying to sell your house during the holidays.

So our daughter and son in law originally planned to go on a cruise for their honeymoon....but Covid intervened and they had to cancel that trip (they ended up going to Disney World at the last minute so no honeymoon canceled). Just yesterday they booked a cruise to Alaska and my wife is now trying to book the same cruise and surprise them on the ship. It's not until next August and I'm almost 100% certain that my wife won't be able to keep it a secret that long. She'll run into the first roadblock when she sits down to book shore excursions and dinner seating and realizes that she has to link our plans together to accomplish that. So the next 9 months are going to be quite interesting.

Shave Journal:

Used RustBoy for the first time in over 2 months. Been using "Fred", the Aristocrat, for that whole time and enjoying the smooth, easy shaves so the switch was a bit of a shock to my face. I always thought of the Fat Boy as the smoothest of the Gilettes but I'm here to tell you that the Aristocrat beats it hands down.

Getting such good lather out of "Snowman".......the RazorRock synth brush made such thick lather this morning that the last blade pass was through as much lather as the first pass. Super slick and so much cushion. Its taken a bit of time to learn the ways of a thicker brush knot but I'm well on my way. And to think, my first use of a synth brush was during the TSC Lather contest (which I won!.....have I mentioned that before?)

Nivea 2:1 aftershave is my morning usual and it's so good. I am planning on trying more of the aftershaves that @GearNoir sent me recently. I went through each over the course of two weeks but didn't really spend any more time with them. So starting this weekend I'll begin rotating through them to see if I like any of them enough to want to buy more.

See ya Later!

No offense taken if you end up not liking any!

How is the house selling going? Got some bites? I can’t remember.

No offense at all intended. Thank you, again, for the generous, super great smelling gift.

Currently in a contract with a couple but its proving to be super stress inducing. I'll have more on that........in a later post.

That's been my experience as well. I love the FB for its chunkiness and heft, but much prefer the Aristocrat. I eventually sold the FB.

No.....they already had their honeymoon......that was the part about Disney World. Is Dave not reading the whole post now???
I read the whole thing goober! I read that they had originally planned a cruise for their honeymoon. And I thought this might be a follow-up for what they really wanted their honeymoon to be.

Nope. The Disney World trip was the honeymoon. But the Son in Law still hasn't been on a cruise yet.....so now they're going. Weird part is that he gets to be Diamond status on his very first cruise........a status he's earning as a result of my wallet.

And hey....that's Mr. Goober to you.

Well....I was hoping I could report something positive about the sale of my house.....but it seems that the stress of buying the house from us has caused the buyers wife to go all verklempt (even claimed that she may have to go to the hospital 🙄) and they just backed out of the contract. So I'm due to get a nice check from them from the Ernest Money they put down and now we have to start the whole process over again. Luckily our agent has several people lined up already to look at the house.
