The Heysi Missive

Had to replace the refrigerator (after 27 years!) The prices seem to have gone up in that short amount of time. Really glad I took the time to measure the old unit before we went out to get the new one. Sadly, the plan was to get a really nice one when we downsize into a smaller house....but on the plus side, the wife said that I can just use this new one for the beer fridge when we do get the super-duper new one. So win/win.

Today's Shave:

Used a regular Williams puck because I was feeling rushed this morning (for no apparent reason as I ended up at work 10 minutes early!). So since I was going old school, I used my EverReady badger and RustBoy with a Gillette Silver Blue.

Kinda boring, I'll admit. So to add some diversity to this shave, I grabbed the Proraso shave balm which had been pushed to the side by other aftershaves recently. Of course I forgot how little of this balm is needed and over did it a bit. And then to really add some extra diversity to it...I tried one of my few cologne samples, Truefitt and Hill's Grafton. Unfortunately, the Proraso is covering up the Grafton and I have no idea how it smells (all I can smell is the Proraso). I will have to try it again tomorrow.

See ya Later.

Its.......soooooooooo........hot here this week!!!!!

Until it gets over 110 degrees....its just simple, tolerable, heat. But once it cracks that magical number....its like being on the surface of the sun. Your car interior won't cool no matter how much you blast the AC....and the house never quite gets down to the pleasant level. And you just know that the electrical bill is going to show up in a few weeks and crush your soul. Thankfully it only gets above that unholy number about 10 times a year (yesterday was our first of the year...last year we had 18 days! The record is 26 days). Most Vegas residents find themselves going to the mall or the local casinos on days such as these to take advantage of the free AC.

Shaving Journal:

Used the Pre War British Tech with a Gillette Silver Blue. Its almost as smooth as the Wilkinson Sword so....perfect shave. Decided to break out the CBL Hombres. It gives such a smooth, creamy lather (just like it says on the label) and the scent is so old school barbershop. Kind of reminds me of the times I went with my grandfather to the barbershop near his home in Northern California. The place smelled of cigars and aftershave.

Tried a sample of Truefitt and Hill 1805 aftershave balm. Nice scent and very soothing. I already had a sample of the cologne and I knew that I liked that so now I want to get a full bottle of the aftershave (this version of RAD is brought to you by @Spider ...I guess it should be called ASAD)

See ya Later.

I feel your pain.. I still maintain it's more miserable here in the south (aka Satan's Neck Fat Roll) due to the high humidity.. I went to Rapid City SD on a work trip once. It was 103° when we landed but the humidity level was extremely low so it was hot but it wasn't that "breathing-through-a-wet-wash-cloth" hot we experience.

A GSB and Pre War Tech are a recipe for an excellent shave! I really do like the Hombres scent, its just really different from most that I've tried in that genre.

110F is intense! How's the humidity? When we get 100-102 here with 90% humidity you just want to lay on the floor of your basement in the fetal position.... I hope to never experience 110F!

Please don't roast in your vehicle on the way to work...

We feel the same way about 90
I do miss the manageable high temps of Santa Monica and Redondo Beach. 90 degrees was about the hottest we got and the marine layer would nearly always save the day. I didn't spend many summers up in Northern California but the fog was always a welcome thing.

The marine layer is such a life saver sometimes!
We have a new weather guy here in Vegas. He's from somewhere back east and he's quickly learning what a Monsoon is and how an off-shore, low pressure system (the kind that produces marine layer) can affect whether the Monsoon makes it to Vegas or if it just sits over @BarberDave 's house and waters his rocks.

I wish it has been hit and miss and the 1teens the last few days, the sun spots look so pretty from this distance ie
