Well the battle of the slants continues and today I wanted to see just how the Merkur 37C would do against the iKon X3. The X3 provided two very smooth shaves right out the gate and was quite impressive. Loaded up with the same Super-Max Blue Diamond as the X3 and off we went.

Today’s soap of the day was Fine Italian Citrus and man do I love this soap. Great performer and the scent is wonderful. It lasts forever and I don’t believe there has ever been a time when it didn’t just lather bomb at load up. Synthetic, Badger or Boar have no issues with this soap. Today’s brush Wild West Brushworks - “Elway” with a 26mm Tuxedo knot. Pics don’t do it justice.

Wonderful two pass shave today and as with the X3 it was WTG and ATG. Smooth but not quite as smooth as the X3. Next up will be the Sledgehammer 39C.

It’s Friday! The week draws to a close and my your BBQs be hot and your Brews ice cold! Happy shaves all!

Looking forward to a lovely shower and shave after getting all the chores done. It has been stinky hot and today was cooler but still hot. Love the slow simmer of Summer though so can’t complain too much. The iKon Deluxe OC was sitting in the stand and readily at hand and so it was christened King of the Shave. Loaded up with a Personna Lab Blue and ready to go.

Soap of the day CBL Ghost Pineapple so very good and even Mrs. Somnos was thoroughly impressed with the scent. Performance is phenomenal and remember to load a little to shave a lot. I have and do recommend CBL Soaps to anyone looking for a premium tallow based soap and no, he owes me nothing however, I owe him a debt of gratitude for not only being a true artisan but a stand up guy. Keeping cranking them out Chris!

Lathered up a storm and proceeded to get through a lovely two pass DFS! The menthol in this soap is a nice touch. Finished up with some Stirling Weekend in Malibu AS and a quick spritz of English Laundry Tahitian Waters EDP. Perfect!

I hope you are enjoying your Sunday. Time to crank up the grill and get our BBQ on! Take care all and happy shaves!

Well I had mentioned that next up would be the Merkur 39C to further my research on the “Battle of the Slants”. However, while I was poking about the collection, I spotted the Rockwell 6C which has not graced the SOTD in a while so it was drafted immediately. With a few days growth I went with the R5 plate and loaded up with a Personna Lab Blue.

Soap of the day Barrister & Mann Seville a lovely smelling and performing soap. I could gladly use it everyday but that wouldn’t be much fun now would it? The Simpson Colonel X2L made quick work of the soap and left me with buckets of lather to play with!

Proceeded to get through a fantastic two pass near BBS shave. Wow! I have to say I don’t know why it has been left out of the rotation for as long as it has but the 6C was a very smooth and impressive shaver! It just sang along with superb audio feedback and made quick work of the beard. Fantastic all around. Midweek and starting the decent to the weekend. Enjoy the week and happy shaves all!

That one is still on my list on Amazon for when it goes on sale. It will be stationed permanently in my travel pack.

Really enjoyed reading about the slants
@Cvargo I still have to grab the 39C! The iKon X3 was very impressive and I am not a “slant” guy though I now own three. My fave was always the 37C for its size and balance but the X3 has taken the crown so far.

On the road and wanted an easy and mild shave. The Gillette A’crat Jr from a #58 set is the exact ticket. What an excellent shaver and quite the looker. This particular one is a near mint cased example. Love the red leatherette case it comes in and knurling pattern makes it unique. Loaded up with a Gillette Wilkinson Sword it is just fantastic.

Summer time = Summer scent and the Italian Barber Amici is a wonderful bright citrus scent. Great soap and quite affordable. AP Shave Co. Silk Smoke with the blue lagoon handle is just about the softest feeling synth I own but it has just the right amount of backbone to it. Great brush!

Lathered up and got through just about one of the best three pass BBS shaves I have had in a long, long time. Stars were in alignment this morning for sure.

The weekend! Finally! Enjoy the sun, the family and friends and the shaves!
