The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man

Well my wife expects a diner out and some chocolate. I don't want to know what would happen if I didn't comply.
And you should expect a new soap and razor!

After I got uber spoiled at Christmas, I know some return spoiling is appropriate.

Makes sense Dave. I think if your wife expects a big deal, you need to deliver. I know if my wife worked in an office I wouldn't want her to be the only lady there to not have flowers delivered.

Sorry, My journal is one thing that I often forget about. This could be a big entry, so let us begin39

My lastest shaving endeavor is to sample and review Southern Witchcraft soaps/scents. I bought 2 full tubs and two samples of soap and one aftershave sample, back during their black friday sale. Just now getting around to testing them out. I will be using each soap and pairing them with the aftershave for 4 days straight.

Yesterday I used Lycanthropy soap followed by Alchemist Aftershave. Lycanthropy was pleasant, a dark floral scent. Pretty good as far as florals go, but still nothing I would care to have a full tub of. The Alchemis aftershave is great. Right up my alley. Nice strong scent and lasts quite a while. Definitely a future purchase in that one. Today was Druantia soap. A kind of sweet, but dark and spicy soap. Reminiscent of oatmeal cookies, sort of. The longer I used it the more I realized it just wasn't for me. Used the Alchemist aftershave again, and I'm liking it more and more. I think I'll be getting the aftershave and the cologne of this at some point. Maybe the soap, undecided on that. I might just pair the aftershave with the other full soap tubs I have... more on those in the days to come.

I'm locked into a one blade February with a Parker Premium blade, and for the first time, I'm absolutely hating this challenge. This blade is just dreadful. Chad gave it a 100 pk rating and a couple other Cadre members listed it as their favorite blade, so I though this would be a cinch to use a single blade all month. Boy was I wrong, and I don't understand why anyone would like this blade. Is is not smooth, and gives a lot of blade feel. It's very "draggy" is the best way I can describe it. My first go lasted 12 shaves. Then the blade gave up and stopped providing a close shave. That's my determination of when a blade is done. More specifically, when I feel my face at noon and I have as much stubble as I normally do at the end of the day, then I know it wasn't a close shave. And that's what happened here. So, I put in a new Parker, and am hoping for the best. Today was shave 5 on the new one, and I really just don't like the feel of it. I think I've only had 1 comfortable shave it it, that gave me some hope, but the next shave was draggy again. This is literally, the worst blade, I have ever used. And that's saying a lot, since I have used the Graham Field blade. But this is far worse. I'm using this blade in my Merkur 34C, which is very mild and is the razor I always use when going for extreme longevity in a blade. I think the mildness of the razor really helps blades last longer. But, even that did not help this blade.

In other news, Bruce sent me the remainder of his bottle of Pashana aftershave for me to try out. I'll be doing a full review after I complete my Southern Witchcrafts trials. But I did open it up and give it a quick sniff today and here is my first impression. Strong, very strong. Somewhat cologney, somewhat woody. Very reminiscent of vintage Avon aftershave. In the same vein as Tribute, Excalibur, and maybe Blend 7; which I consider to be the more non-descript & cologney scents from Avon. So, stay tuned for a better review of that in the future.

On the homefront, we have got about 4-5 inches of snow here. I had to shovel about 9 inches off my deck from the drifting snow accumulation. We were supposed to get another 1-2" last night, but ended up getting just a dusting. So as to not sit around the house all day yesterday, I decided to got to the local bar for some karaoke. The bar is called A Little Off Base, and just called ALOB6for short. It's a funny name, because the bar is right outside of the gate for the Air Force Base, so it's kind of a double meaning.... one literal, the other metaphoric. I attempted to sing a couple of songs. I realized, my throat has not healed as much as I though from my surgery 6 months ago. I had a really hard time hitting some of the higher ranges. Oh well. Still had a good time. And the drinks were cheap. I had 4 gin & sodas, and my tab was a whopping $10. That's pretty good.

Tonight I'm headed out with my girlfriend for dinner. We've both been very busy and have had little time to spend together in the last few months. This will be a belated birthday dinner for her, which was last week. I'm very anxious to give my gift to her, as I know she will just love it. We are both eating the Ketogenic way of eating (low carb), so that somewhat limits our choices, but I'm thinking either a steakhouse or hibachi29

Well, that about wraps it up for now. On this long snowy holiday weekend, I'm rewatching Game of Thrones from the beginning. Getting ready for the final season. It's going to be good.

Nice catch up KJ. I’m still amazed at your experience with the Parker blades. But like mentioned above YMMV. There are a few blades that a lot of others love that just don’t work for me at all. So I get it. You’re rewatching of GOT reminds me I need to hunt down the Blu-ray seasons I’ve leant out so I can do the same!
