The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man

Great shave and Awesome birthday present! I haven't seen any Williams like that before, that I can remember!

Greetings, True Believers! It's your old pal Spider-Man.

Todays shave started well. I had some leftover DG lather in my bowl from yesterday. I added some water and some CBL cream to rejuvenate it and went to town.

Since Chris just loaned me some hones to try, my interest in straights has been rekindled. I haven’t used one in a couple years. Figured I’d start with my Weck Sextoblade and start rebuilding my technique. Cheeks went well, I thought all was good, but my neck was a bloodbath. Very red, sore, and like 10 weepers. Haven’t needed alum in forever. I see this is going to be a slow re-learning curve.

At home I’m very excited to see lots of reptiles and amphibians active around my yard and pond. Snakes, lizards, frogs and turtles. So cool to have all this nature so close to me! And very happy to have snakes!! We’ve seen 2 water snakes at the pond and I think I found their den, so they are permanent residents!

Great pictures KJ!

Not too bad of re-start on the straights. How long has it been since you used one?

great pictures KJ...is that a broad banded water snake? good to have around for pest control, for sure!

Not sure exactly, couple years at least.

Yellow Bellied Water Snake. And not so much on the pest control. Watersnakes eat fish, frogs, toads, salamanders, and crayfish. All things I like having around anyway.

Great reads and some awesome photos, KJ! I am glad to see the Grooming Dept gaining some more traction, as they are my second favorite soaps behind Wild West Shaving Co. I know they are a different experience, because they don't hold a lot of air, but they can take a ton of water and you end up with a nice gel-like coating that is amazing to me. And they don't require a splash or balm for me to feel great post-shave, I just rub in some excess lather.

I am glad to see the Grooming Dept gaining some more traction,

The more I use it, the less I like it. To me it's not great, just average. Someone from another forum, who has used hundreds of soaps, put out a top 6 list. I hadn't bought into any new artisans in a while, so I've been working my way through his list to see what is new and uf I'd been missing out on anythign. Of the new ones I've tried, it's my least favorite.

I know Grooming Dept has changed their formula recently. Is yours the new or old formula?

Well, at least we can say the YMMV is still a universal truth!

I'm sure it’s the old. But not very motivated to try any more either. I’m also not a fan of soap makers that have multiple formulas (Razorock anyone?). I like to know what to expect, and just get the same soap in different scents.
