The 333 Club

I'm still having a hard time wrapping my head around what could possibly be so good about this razor to justify the cost of it. It's just a holder for a blade. There are many other holders for the same blades out there... at a fraction of the cost. And, I own several "shavettes" that already use the same blades. So why should I join the 333 club? Help me out here. I really want to know what it is about this razor that makes it so much better than all the rest and worth the price of admission.
I think the only REALLY good justification for you to "join the club" would be if you had become bored with the gear you have. In YOUR case specifically, I think you find enormous enjoyment in using your assorted DE's and would be happier spending the $$$ on soaps and aftershaves. The Tedalus IS a well built specimen, worth a premium price (how premium is subjective) so if you wanted to own a very high quality shavette that looks and functions very much like a straight razor (maybe better?) then throw some cash down the Tedalus hole.

I understand that they designed it to hold multiple blade types but I simply can't understand why someone would want to use a half DE blade in it UNLESS they were a barber using it to clean up necklines etc and they switch to feather blades for face shaves. When I saw on their website that they were showing it being used with a half DE blade I almost didn't buy it. ...I have never been SO injured by a shave tool as I have been using a half DE in a shavette.

I don't have one of the razors and I don't know if I ever will but just from an observation point I will say this, I have observed a lot of you guys having a favorite item and or company and singing it's praises. You guys seem to develop an affinity for a particular item and talk about it being the "best thing ever invented" , that is until someone else comes out with the next one.. I know the 333 club guys will bash me over this because they say its so great (right now) but I remember them also saying that about past devices, IE soaps , brushes ,and, Blade Holders... If you want to try one I say get it if you are in the financial situation to be able to but , its just the latest thing ( no matter what those who WILL say otherwise have to say ) I mean remember when the AeroPress came out , It was the best thing ever and was constantly being talked about, but you dont hear much about it any more ( even though it is still good and I use mine sometimes )..... If you have things that already work perfect for you then why bother right now "just chasing after a unicorn ".... I know this is only an opinion and a lot of you might think it stinks but those are my thoughts on it....
Actually I think that is kind of a incorrect accusation. I will agree then we get very excited over new products that’s why it’s called a hobby, however we are not recommending an item just recommend it we joke about the CEC, but in actuality we have a huge group of talent and probably the best shavers in the world in our forum. Therefore, the opinions people have can be taken very very honestly the essence is not, repeat not the latest thing. Having known what went into making this razor and also as someone who shaves peoples faces for a living I think that type of recommendation can be looked at very positively. The one thing that stands out about the essence razor is that it can shave all types of faces all type of whiskers and has a field it is literally an extension of your arm . So I would be very careful making a generalized statement about why we recommend a specific razor. In my case for those people here that have known me for over a decade know that I would never ever recommend a product over a straight razor until this one. The essence by Tedalus Is not a unicorn, however it could be a paradigm shift in shaving in my opinion, Much like the Blackland Vector did.

Not much to talk about there. I just never use or try anything else anymore.
Yep, same here at work. @Jaro1069 part of it is when something is new, there's excitement around it and new experiences to talk about. But when one has been using something for a period of time there's really nothing more to say. But there is also the other side of hobby-type things. Variety and new can be fun. Even if you've been using a razor that gives you excellent shaves, some people still want to change things up from time to time just so there isn't monotony. Honestly, if anyone owns more than 1 razor, this has to be partially true. I'm pretty much settled into what razors, soaps, AS, brushes, etc I use. So it will usually take something with some hype around it to get me interested to try something new. And has been said, these are folks with a good amount of experience (look at how old these guys are!), so when there are several opinions that something is great, it carries some weight.

Sorry.....Then would you please delete my post about it. I will refrain from posting about it again .... Thank you......

Why? It's still a good conversation.
The conversation can continue without me in it KJ. As has been said , I agree we have a bunch of great people here and that there are a lot of good reviews here. I trust peoples opinions here, and you know that you are one of them that I value greatly !! What was meant by my post was that I remember when The Feather AC and the Kai razors came out and everyone was talking about how much of a gamechanger they were and how great they were and now this one has came out and it has taken over that spot. I was just trying to say if someone really wants it AND can afford it then by all means get it , BUT don't sacrifice other stuff for it if someone is unsure...... ( Honestly I think this was a better way to put it.....)
Maybe what I really would like is for the post I mentioned to be edited and to take out all the stuff that is "controversial"..... I am just so tired of fussing... This was the one place I could go to get away from it all. I am NOT gonna let that happen here , I value all of you too much...

Agree with @Spider your statement spurred great conversation which I just wasted time at work to read.

I too am strongly considering picking up the essence based on the old guys recommendations, but primarily as @NurseDave put it, variety. I really enjoy using all sorts of different razors and the essence is pretty different!

There’s no reason to delete it that was your opinion and you’re allowed to have it in it spurs the conversation no hit no foul
