Steve's Journal: The Saga Continues....

No shave yesterday as I was taking the day off to let some irritation fully subside, and no shave this morning due to last night’s mess....

Left work early yesterday so I could get hone and grab the family to head to Philly for the Phillies game. Chase Utley officially retired as a Phillie last night and they had a nice ceremony for him. He was my favorite player from that era of the team and it was a really nice send off. He truly is The Man.

Now about the mess. When I get home from work Erica tells me the hot water in the shower won’t turn off. We have the old school 3 knob set up (our house was completely original from 1976 when we bought it) and the hot water knob would turn but the water wouldn’t shut off. We’ve had issues with it tickling in the past and I’ve replaced the cartridge in the knob but this time it was just full on running. To my surprise I found no shut off valves in the bath trap, so I turned the supply from the hot water heater off. So today will be spent either replacing a cartridge or replacing the entire manifold. Hopefully the cartridge since it’ll only take about 10 minutes! With all this going on it’s really kicked my butt in gear to finish our master bathroom. We currently only have the one bathroom to use and I’ve just been overly lazy. It also doesn’t help that I have no idea what I’m doing so I have to rely on handy friends to teach and help in their spare time lol. I do have Willie to assist, but he’s more into electrical work than plumbing.

If you don’t hear from in 24 hours...send a search party!
Willie assist FTW!

Audible Edition

Razor:
Rockwell 6c Plate 4
Blade: Parker
Brush: WWBW Jingle 2 Band Badger
Soap: Soapy Science Lollipop Citrus
AS: Nivea Sensitive AS Balm

I was going to go with a Stirling shave today and use the Stirling Spice soap and AS, but the wife came home from the drugstore with some Dove lavender scented bar soap. She was taking a bar out to put in the shower, and when I smelled it I decided to switch things up. I grabbed a sample of Soapy Science that I had and decided to give it a go. The soap is decent. Scent is definitely citrusy, not sure where the lollipop comes in though. As far as performance, I have such a hard time lathering samples that I usually only use them to get an idea of whether or not I like the scent. But the initial lather before the first pass was really good. Nice and slick and lots of cushion. I'd definitely consider buying a full tub of this stuff. Walked away DFS+ , also know as BBS* lol.

In Other News...
The shower valve has been replaced and is working fine. Only took 2 trips to Home Depot. Got back and got the seat and seals replaced only to realize the outer handle was stripped and wouldn't turn the actual valve anymore...so after a second 40 minute round tripper to the Depot it was finally done. Finished just in time to head out to The Pub and catch the furthur decline of the Phillies . Even though we had to sit through that nonsense, the wife and I had a good time. Today was spent watching yet another Phillies loss and doing some yard work. Next week I think I'm going to teach myself how to tile so I can get the master bathroom up and running again. That should be interesting....

Willie World:
Willie's been an absolute bum all day. So you know, he's enjoying himself lol. Ozzy and Lucy have be entertaining each other by chasing one another around the house and watching the birds in the back yard. A nice Sunday for all the four leggers around here!

Nice shave. I have 2 Soapy Science (Lollipop Citrus and Docs Special Blend) I've been procrastinating a total Master Makeover myself. Maybe I'll tackle it when I get back from up north..................maybe :ROFLMAO:

In all fairness mine entails moving walls and drains and water supplies.........

If you would like to come do mine first so you can practice before you do yours I would be ok with that. 😂😂😂

My buddy recently redid his bathroom and had to do the same with moving drains and plumbing. It was a lot of work but was worth it. The redesign really gives him a lot more room now.

Shave Time!

Razor:
Razorock Tech II
Blade: Parker
Brush: Stirling Kong Synthetic
Soap: WSP Barbershop
AS: WSP Barbershop

Going with @DocHoliday0831’s theme shave today, using items that helped my shave turn the corner.

The Tech II was the razor that I used to really get my technique nailed down. I stuck with just this razor for about a month and finally was able to decent shaves for the first time.

The brush was the first synthetic I came across and really showed me what a good larger looks like. I can now get great lathers with my first brush, but this one seemed to help get the process down to a science for me.

The soap and AS were the first real tier one purchase for me. I know that everyone’s mileage varies, but for me WSP is a top performer. This scent is also amazing. Not the typical barbershop scent.

That Formula T soap is pretty darn good stuff! I remember when I used it for the first time...I was pretty amazed at how my face felt afterward!

Very nice reflection shave Steve. Thanks for the acceptance of my challenge for the shave. It’s interesting what you find out was the corner turning moment for other folks. Formula T is good stuff for sure.

Got caught up. Good to hear all is well with Willie and he's keeping himself comfortable out of the rain.

Bummer about the real estate deals. I kinda figured people don't go looking for a house until they have a loan secure.

Thanks @NurseDave. The deal actually did find some new life haha, although it's been pushed back 2 months to allow for some financing issued to be resolved. Usually the first step is to get preapproved for a loan, but your loan isn't actually secured until after you've gone under contract. The mortgage company won't underwrite it until you're under contract and certain details have been agreed upon. At that point we had an unexpected hiccup that needs to be sorted out. Hopefully it gets resolved in time!
