Always appreciate your advice when it comes to our four legged kids!Of course he loves it...have you seen what is in that stuff. It's the equivalent of a Krispy Kreme donut for dogs.
I give my dogs fresh green beans from time to time and on occasion some sweet potatoes. A few blueberries here and there are pretty good for our four legged friends also. I don't know what Willie's day to day dog food is...but we switched to a grain free diet for our dogs a long time ago and have not had a problem with weight since. I know it's more expensive...but if you go that route, try a better quality one than you can buy in the grocery store. Chewy has some really good prices on that stuff and you can get free delivery most of the time.
If you go down the rout of grain free dog food make sure you get one that has taurine listed in the ingredients or supplement with some bone broth or real meat (animal meat sources contain taurine). This is because a lot of dogs were developing heart issues on grain free dog food. It turns out that it had to do with the protein sourcing. Certain dog foods were providing a large or most of their protein from peas, lentils, and legumes. These sources don't have certain amino acids that dogs need (like taurine) and were causing heart issues. Dogs are omnivores, however, they thrive on animal sourced foods. Think of a wolf in the wild...they mostly eat animals. Our domestic fury friends are not all that different.
Sorry, didn't mean to geek out on you. But seriously...we switched our wiener dog to grain free (dachshunds are notorious for over eating) the food was more filling and he seemed more satisfied, and some of his health issues went away...and it was much easier to manage his weight. We have since switched Chauncey to a raw diet, but that's a story for another day. Our lab-shepherd mix still get dry dogfood. We feed her this stuff called Farmina. It's probably at the upper end of what most people want to pay (or even out of the range), but the stuff is good stuff. They have the grain free versions and other versions that have "ancestral grains." We tried the later once and Allie started to get these patches that she was itching. So we went back to the grain free. Anyway...there are others out there that are just as good...you just have to do a little looking.
Okay...sorry didn't mean to get all dog food preachy on you. Just chalk all of this up to me being weird.

My wife is a vet tech, so she is well versed in this subject. She takes care of making sure the dog and cats get the good stuff haha. I’m pretty sure Willie eats Fromm’s. I’m not sure which type specifically though.
