SHAVEWIZARD'S THOUGHTS

10-31 HALLOWEEN SHAVE

Prep: Occams Crushed Lime pre shave soap
Razor: The General
Blade: Topaz Platinum (1st shave)
Brush: Razorock Plissoft
Soap: CBL Cigar Shop Cowboy
Post: Nothing!

Since i spent the night at my GF's house i was a bit unprepared for Halloween. I normally would have broke out the Hallows or CB 322 or some other occult soap, but had this sample of CBL on the dresser ive been wanting to try so figured "what the heck why not".

Scent is a leather forward with tobacco background. The scent really opened up once lathered. Water is a bit hard over here, so the lather was not as creamy as before, but texture aside,it protected beautifully. Post shave and residual slickness have been the strongest features IMO. Decided to let it ride with no post shave product, and skin feels miosturized without being overly heavy. Could still detect slight whiffs of the scent a few hours later. Very happy with the results from todays shave. Everyone have a safe Halloween!

Prep: shower with African Black Soap, MWF bath soap (as shampoo bar & face wash), pre shave soap mix
Razor: Wilkinson Sword Classic
Blade: Pol-Silver
Brush: Maggard 24mm Synthetic
Soap: Gustafsons-Stubble Managment
Post: FD Spice Aftershave

Man what a wonderful shave this morning. This soap is a hidden gem and is produced for Gustafsons by Square One Soapworks, and is still available under the SoS name. The first formula from Gustafsons was absolutely terrible IMO. This formula is night and day difference. Comes as a hard puck inside a tin.

The scents from Square One Soapworks are made from natural EO and they offer a few interesting scent options. Stubble Managment is a mix of Mint and Anise, although im not usually a fan of Anise, this blend is quite nice. Scent strength us medium strong and not light by any means.

Lather consistancy reminds me of Perfectly Natural Soaps older formula, or Shannon's Soaps. Whips up a dense cream rather than bubbles, takes a bit of working the lather but the reward is worth it. Have noticed several of my favrorite soaps have sunflower oil as ingredient, not sure if this helps with post shave feel or slickness, but is a observation. This stuff has all the usual properties of a shave soap one would look for, and is a excellent vegan soap base that has a tallow like consistancy. Shave was refreshing and didnt want it to end, but finished off with dollar store Spice A/S (as its getting to be that time of year to break out the OS). Hope everyone is in good health and getting A1 shaves!

Still small. I'm old and have bifocals

I apologize for the small pics. Will try to see if they can still be posted at a larger size, had trouble getting them to upload before but will experiment and see what can be done.

Sunflower oil? Before we know it, we’ll be cooking with SW! Good looking lather.

SW, no worries. I'm enjoying reading through on all your thoughts on these new to me soaps. I know I'm in trouble when you compare the soaps attributes to other soaps I've never heard of ??? I'm learning though !

Great reads and set ups, SW! I think you're the only other person I've seen have a puck of Musgo Real shave soap. I've only used mine a couple times since I bought it a couple(or more) years ago, and might have to break it out again soon. Is it really discontinued?

Dave, I'm in the same boat as you, I haven't heard of these soaps. But I don't get out as much as you guys.

Prep: nothing ?
Razor: Wilkinson Sword Classic
Blade: Pol-Silver
Brush: Razorock BC Plissoft
Soap: Palmolive Stick (grated)
Post: SC Resolution Balm, CL Bon Viont EDT

Woke up late and was in a bit of a hurry this morning. Despite the lack of prep, the shave went well. Dont usually reach for the classic soaps much, but Palmolive Stick is a must try IMO. Price is cheap, lasts forever, cool green color, and a unique clean almost musty scent that is something similar to Speick (but stronger).

Lathering was a bit difficult in this weird container, but no issues with the lather quality. performance wise it is pretty good, nothing mind blowing, just a solid product. Finished off with SC Resolution balm (menthol was freezing this morning) and a dab from a CL sample. Scent of EDT reminds me of Clubman. Hope everyone had a great shave!

I was actually joking with him. He has always sought out the little known brands NO One has ever heard of. He's a wealth of knowledge with soaps.

Palmolive is one of the best budget soaps! I'm still more of an Arko guy...but I have used my share of Palmolive!

I have a Palmolive stick that got PIFed to me, haven’t tried it yet...soon hopefully!

Wait what is discounted?
