Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer Gift Exchange 2021

I'm about 3/4 of the way done. Shopping on a budget just means I have to be more thoughtful.
I know what you mean. Doing what I do for a living ( my actual occupation ) means that finances are not always the best , unless you get "Discovered " and then you can make the big bucks.. I'm trying to find things I think my Buddy would like or want and not go over the top... I mean having 3 young kids means there are A LOT of presents they want , which means Santa has a lot of stuff to bring them and we all know how much those kids toys are now-a-days !!

Ok I Pulled My Head out of My . . .
I Finally got my Buddy’s stuff
Just hope it gets here in Time for the dead line.

Since it was implied that the Ferrari I purchased for my Reindeer Buddy wasn’t enough - that I needed to include stocking stuffers- here is the reason why my package hasn’t shipped. The USPS has decided this was the optimal route to get me my buddy’s last entry into his gift sack. I know that this is the season to “ give ‘til it hurts” - this brings new definition to painful !

The map doesn’t do a good job showing it actually went to two facilities in DC area and also included a trip to ship within the same facility

The Postal service can be crazy with their processing.. This is from my latest purchase I made and the USPS's idea of being efficient :
  • Nov 2, 2021
  • 11:01pm
  • PROCESSED THROUGH USPS FACILITY
  • SHREVEPORT LA DISTRIBUTION CENT, 71102
  • Nov 2, 2021
  • 10:44pm
  • PROCESSED THROUGH USPS FACILITY
  • SHREVEPORT, LA 71130
  • Nov 2, 2021
  • 9:26pm
  • PROCESSED THROUGH USPS FACILITY
  • SHREVEPORT, LA 71130
  • Nov 2, 2021
  • 8:16pm
  • PROCESSED THROUGH USPS FACILITY
  • SHREVEPORT, LA 71130
  • Nov 2, 2021
  • 7:01pm
  • ORIGIN ACCEPTANCE
  • BOSSIER CITY, LA 71111
I mean how many times does it have to be processed through the same facility??

You feel my pain!

Cross-docking (trucking industry term, where an item is unloaded from 1 truck and then loaded on another.)
Four parts of your "processing" for 71130 could be = TRUCK-A arrival; TRUCK-A unload; TRUCK-B load; TRUCK-B departure
@August West can probably explain it better.

It could also be 2-parts TRUCK and 2 parts POSTAL SORTING.

I know it’s a thankless job - USPS workers have it rough - always get the blame and none of the credit (plus they go places where other shipping doesn’t) - plus they are hamstrung by stupid management decisions - our most recent Post Master General ripped out a lot of sorting machines across the country in an effort to somehow make things more efficient-

I think having it graphically depicted is what hurts for me - Sometimes ignorance is bliss😃

This new phenomenon unfortunately goes beyond the traditional spoke hub system. In an effort to make the postal service more solvent(I am not really buying that narrative), and according to insiders in the Union with whom I still have contact, overtime has been eliminated. Compounding the problem, of course, is COVID and the near destruction of career benefit track employment. Working there is no longer such a good deal. Also, in my day, a truck could leave without a full load under the auspices of timely delivery. Now, a truck has to be at one hundred percent capacity to move. The Post Office is in a death throe. My advice: If you want the service that so many Americans took for granted for so long, use UPS or FedEx same day or two day. And while your at it, get another job to afford the shipping. I appreciate your frustrations but we all allowed this to happen because we are politically complacent. Own it.

Merry Xmas 🎅🏼
