The "Frankensoap" mixes seem to either be amazing performers or complete disasters lol.

Razor: Assured Dollar Razor / Wizamet (1)
Soap: Sterling Hipster
Scuttle: Captains Choice
Strop: Griffin
Brush: RazoRock 400 Synthetic
AS/EdT: Sterling Hipster

Comments: This afternoon brought out a lil piece of Cadre history. This cheap-o-del Grande razor holds my current speed shave record. A new Wizamet and trying out Sterling Hipster. Basically an average day at the casa.

The Hardware: Most guys cringe at the sound of the name. I saw it sitting there and pulled the trigger. This will be interesting. Despite its rickityness this razor holds my record speed shave in the mid 4’s. I’ve had it out a couple of times to check it out with other blades but never with a thought of making another run.

The Software: Sterling is always great in the bowl and face. Let’s go straight to the frag. I don’t know what it is, but I like it... a lot! For a speed run to save time I’ll still probably go with a crime.

The Shave: three passes and notice the razor isn’t as smooth as I remembered. Probably it’s the blade. I have a couple of assured blades left. I’ll look at them. it kind of felt like there was a ‘kink‘ in the blade. I got a couple of nicks because of it. But at the end, I was as smooth as if I had used my Gamechanger!

Razor: Feather AS-D2 / Feather Super Stainless (1)
Soap: SV Opuntia
Scuttle: Captains Choice
Strop: Griffin
Brush: Cadre Legacy Synthetic
AS/EdT: Duke Cannon Aftershave Balm

Comments: Razor on loan for test drive. very nice packaging! I don't usually use Feather DE’s a lot as they tend to turn harsh on me In the razors Ive got. The instructions indicate this razor is specifically designed to be used with Feather DE’s so I’ll give ker a go but hedging with a super slick soap.

The Hardware: I carefully examined this razor because the parts fit with pretty good precision. I was looking for evidence of CNC marks, but it appears to be precision sintered metal injection, another method for very close tolerance metal parts. (Yes I’ve been binging Ave’s YouTube channel) this kind of stuff is fascinating. Anyway. Blade in place and the parts locked up solid with no play. This razor is no toy. The thumb test indicates it should be pretty mild.

The Software: SV is a great soap for testing razors. It takes a variable out of the equation so I can concentrate on the razor.

The Shave: The first pass felt as if I had no blade in the razor. Just squeegees off the lather. I did a couple more to be sure and rinsing sure enough it was cutting off whiskers! The last time I was this impressed was the first pass with the Vector. except the Vector did exhibit a bit of blade feel. This one... nothing... second pass I tried a bit of pressure to see how forgiving it is in that regard. No problems there. Last pass I didn’t rinse between lathers for a drier and pressured pass with similar results. I had a couple weepers from the pressure that I didn’t feel happen because of the feather sharpness so grade this a DFS+.

ps.. next morning I found I had a bit more stubble than usual. This is not uncommon for me when I use really mild razors. Heavy beard guys might take note.
