Rich's Journal: Adventures with Life and Sharp things

Congratulations on 300 Rich, and I'm glad the vehicular problems are going to soon be behind you. You have had some good shaves along the way as well.

FYI, I found this on my phone from weeks ago. Failed to hit "Post."

....I have high hopes of being able to move that finger properly again, or take up the ukulele and sell my six strings....

Rich you inspire me; always a sense of humor - that's one of the funniest lines you've written. I hope things heal up soon.

Straight Shave #305

Razor: 6/8 Henckell #50
Soap: B&M #42 Cold Lather
Scuttle: Crown King 12oz.
Strop: Mitchel Mogal #824 Horsehide
Brush: +2 Omega Badger Brush of Lathering
AS/EdT: B&M 42
Sound track: None: Tinnitis Day

The Stuff: Time for another visit with Dad and a trip to the Cemetary. I used his razor today and it just seems fitting that I throw in the #42 because .. America! TheOmega was on deck and is a great brush with this soap. Sure it's a bit floppy, but it really cranks out the lather.

The Shave: Buster and Mittens made their usual inspections and settle in to novel new observation posts. As it is still cool and not terribly muggy yet, Mittens claims the Window seat, while Buster is on the footwork detail this morning. B&M is proving to be a pretty good cold water soap with my waters. The Henckell is more than up to the task at hand (what is left of them that isn't all bandaged or boogered up in some manner LOL) Three passes and I am fit to meet beings from other worlds any time. And I smell like petunias. Supposedly, although the lemon fragrance kind of drowns that out. Floral lemons. Definitely in BBS territory with no problems.

Comments: My PT homework definitely is not the most pleasant thing I could pass my time doing. I wonder how many folks actually follow what the tech's tell them to do? The splint they put on the trigger finger seems to make the condition worse when I remove it. I'll have to ask about that on my next visit. Scar breakup massage is just simply a sadistic exercise in pain. I am typing this one handed with a splint on the middle finger.
Memorial Day observances today at the Cemetery were quite nice and with the reading of G.O. #1 the reader actually prefaced it with "Attention to Orders" which brought a lot of men up out of their seats that wouldn't have normally stood. I noticed several medallions on guys graves from Korea to have been replaced from the Eagle to a UN symbol. This has me irritated and I guarantee to pitch a fit if they do that to Dad's. This would be the Second time this year I've visited Mom's grave and offered flowers and a chat with Dad. All in All a great celebration of our hallowed dead.

A relaxing holiday to you all. Fraternal Greetings to all my brothers in arms.
Rich

Nice write-up, Rich, and nice tribute shave. Is there a reason why they are changing the medallions over?

Really great shave Rich! A great day of remembering for you I hope.

I’m still working on my dad to get into traditional shaving, I’m blessed to have both parents still. He’s not there yet, but he’s been mulling it over!

Great shave and read Rich!

Can't go wrong with Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster scented soap.

Well as to PT and following the advice. I followed it to a T! I think that is why I recovered so quickly.

Caught up on a lot of great shaves and good reads, Rich! Best of luck with the treatment on your hand. I know it's got to be frustrating when things are not working at 100%

DE Shave Straight Shave #305
Razor: Gillette Aristocrat: Gillette Black (6ish)
Soap: Pre de Provence
Scuttle: Crown King 12oz.
Strop: Mitchel Mogal #824 Horsehide
Brush: Semogue 1305
AS/EdT: Rich's Bootleg Bay Rum DFET
Sound track: None: Tinnitis Day

The Stuff: Finger problems continue to plague shaving technique so in the interest of safety I am going DE today. This decision gets a paw up from the safety crew.ave: Pre is a great hard soap that loads quickly and easily and makes very thick and manageable lather. At first a little dry, but taking a play from the Dave tapes, I dipped the tips in water and impacted the slickness and ease of the shave significantly. One thing about using a DE is that I can shave at angles that aren't possible with a long blade am not a 'buffer, but decided to give that a go with this super mild razor. The result is I probably could have stopped at one pass. But atfter three, The 'Crat and I are proving to be a whisker removing machine. Three passes and solid BBS.

Comments: Keeping up with my homework for tomorrows appointment is making for some interesting feedback especially on the open scar hand. It has become super ticklish on the scar itself. I am not particularly ticklish, but the immediate area around my first knuckle is super sensitive and what I imagine tickling would be like.

Rich

Great stuff Rich. The regular PdP doesn't get as much notice as #63, but I imagine it performs the same.

I love using my post war Aristocrat...much like yours. Gives a great shave! With all the sensitivity it sounds like the wound is healing nicely. Hope it heals quickly too.

Nice read and pics Rich. Stick to the treatment plan. It takes time but hopefully you are back to 100% soon.
