I haven't used GFT for anything yet - though I am looking at their Extrait of Limes - GFT has stood the test of times. I know Barber Dave has the Limes - he might be a good one to reach out to regarding Paisley. I haven't directly tired Beau de Jour - I have a dupe from Oakcha - called Oak Barrel - and I love it. I also have the Pinnacle Grooming Barbershop soap & AS which is an homage to Beau de Jour. If the Tom Ford original is anything like the two homages that I have - I would say it is wonderful!
One of the cool things about Trumper, is they really haven't changed their formulations much over the years. I don't have any either, that's going to start to change I'm sure. Their sandalwood is supposed to be a reference standard for that vintage style as well, then there's the legendary Eucris.

I'm jealous that you have the original Rive Gauche! Is that your favorite Barbershop?
It's up there for sure. It's not 'original' in any way IMO, but it just very well done, and has a lot of subtle depth.
I was disappointed with my first use, I was expecting it to knock me over, but it was more of a quiet, persistently seductive whisper, that eventually stole my heart.

@GearNoir just scored a can too, maybe he'll drop his thoughts. I'm curious myself.

Sometimes those end up being the best ones - I don't think when I started my fragrance journey I would have considered Dior Eau Sauvage, Beau de Jour, Paco Rabanne Pour Homme, or Azzaro Pour Homme - and they are definitely my favs now!

Reading through with baited breath. I’ve come to greatly love lavender type scents as well.

Rive Gauche is one of my favs because of its strong creamy, lavender, barbershop vibe. I’ve only used the original once or twice so far simply to savor it, since I’ll never find the deal I did again. It starts out with some Fougere undertones that are really nice but it dries down to that creaminess…yum! Fine AB does a pretty decent job though with it’s dupe.

So many good sounding frags I’d like to try, so little time!

The creaminess of Rive Gauche is it's defining quality, and it's so good.

One other I hear get accolades about in the frag world, but rarely in the shave community is Caron Pour Homme, which was one of the OG lavender scents. It, and the other Caron greats can be had on the cheap too. Apparently the formula is just as good now as back in the day.

It's Friday!!

I am debating which cologne to use - Hugo Boss Bottled Intense would go perfectly with the apple note - but with this heat - I'm not so sure - and I have to go outside today. We'll see. I watched the Field of Dreams game last night- that exceeded all expectations - right up there with the NHL Winter Classic games! Many homeruns - the 9th inning alone had 3 - including a walk off! Of course my son was bummed that the Yankees did not win (he was a little consoled that the Steelers beat the Eagles last night though).......but it was really neat bonding with him. We both called one of the HRs in the 9th. IMO, baseball, has that special way of embedding bonding memories..... from my first MLB game (Phillies vs Giants), to taking my kids to theirs (Yankees vs Red Sox).....to our local minor league team where my son Jack threw out the first pitch, again at the minor league games where they did slip and slides and water slides during the game....Good times!

Have a great Friday!

As a diehard White Sox fan who grew up watching Field of Dreams over and over, last night was something special. Watched the intros with my son who is still too young to really understand anything but was still special. I had tears in my eyes when the players came out of the corn and the score from the movie swelled.

A rollercoaster of a game but hard to argue with the end result for us!

It truly was a special game. It’s so nice that even with how stressful life can get that we have this moments of reprieve we can truly enjoy! That still must have been something watching it with your son no matter how much right now he understands.

Watching the home runs going into the cornfields reminded me of growing up - our 2 acres were surrounded by 4 farms - so often when the neighbor kids would come over and play ball with us - wham! right into the corn.

I really hope they make it an annual event!

No shave yesterday - the king must rest for the upcoming bingo game! But today - a nice, relaxing shave fit for bingo royalty.......

Spent yesterday at the public pool - first time going to a public pool in 2 summers. It was the perfect weather and the nice thing was that it wasn't crowded at all. Love this pool - they have a nice "lazy river" pool and a couple of huge slides - so we got our money's worth while keeping a distance from folks. Just fully relaxing.;

Today, Aidan and I did our weekly Kiwi Co Crate - this time a Doodle Crate (focuses on art). What started out as a nice design and fine brush detailing turned into finger painting exercise. These Artists! You can't contain them and their brilliance. The piece was a Ode to Corkboard - so we can pin up our upcoming school assignments.

If you have kids from toddlers to high schoolers - I highly recommend checking out Kiwi Co. Their focus is STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts and Mathematics) - something for everyone! We do a monthly Art and a monthly Science/Engineering one - not only tons of fun - but everyone learns something (even the parents)! Last month's engineering box was perfect for the weather - a water propelled rocket (think what happens when you put a mentos win with soda (not pop you heathens))! So for this art one - we taped over a cork board (both with lines and with these transparent shapes that are hard to see in the pic. Once it dries - should have some neat designs. if nothing else - it was worth it to see the joy on my sons face - and just begging (on the inside) that he only fingerpainted his board and his face and not the couch and everything else lol!

Have a fantastic day!

Sounds like a great time. My granddaughter and I used to do the monthly kid craft projects at Home Depot. That Essence is a looker too. I followed that from the early stages, but even with the discount my frugal side won the day.

Great recommendation on the HD! I forgot about those!! You're absolutely right on the Essence - the price makes you pause.......I couldn't justify it with my previous collection - so I did sell quick a bit from my collection before I got it. I do enjoy it very much and believe it or not - I'm actually happier with a smaller collection

Here’s hoping the week starts out great for everyone!

Decided to spruce the shave up this morning, I am king after all!

this is an homage to Paco Rabanne’s Black XS. he is a rather pleasing cologne, not as nearly as sweet as One Million or Invictus lines - on the mature side - but my favorite from PR is Pour Homme. I was hoping to find it a flanker of Black XS - Black XS Potion - because it has a rum note - but ever since Jeremy fragrance did a review with of course a pretty woman, it has been very difficult to find from a reputable source - and definitely all prices are way above what it should be. C’est la vie - but I do want it ……………what’s holding me back is that Greed cannot be good - or maybe

Lather: Strop Shoppe Russian Tea

Today's shave is dedicated to Nurse Dave and his generosity! The brush is absolutely a dream - I enjoy it so! And I always love tea notes and this soap did not disappoint. So Nurse Dave - Thank you so very much!

Today is back to school day - so everyone is excited. As a parent, I'm relieved that both school districts that my kids go to decided to mask up - which wasn't the case for one of them until last night. So I hope all the kids get back to some semblance of normalcy and enjoy being with their friends. Our teachers did a fantastic job with the remote school for the past year and a half - but they seem to be glad as well. Vaccination rates are high in one of the school districts and the one who just upped their mask policy their vaccination rates are climbing so thank goodness as well.

Doing four calls today and the gift certificate PIF - have a fantastic day!!!

I haven't tried the original Russian Tea, but CBL's take on the scent was great. Glad your kids' schools are taking precautions.
