Love the shave! But on to more important things!

I thank @NurseDave for his extreme generosity and fun game - thank you kindly!

But you might’ve heard, I am the reigning King of Bingo! Since this was my first cadre bingo game ever - and my first game since I was like 10 years old - my coronation must have been ordained from on high!

Have a wonderful day - and ALL SHALL DESPAIR as I plan the next Bingo game!

Had a great week so far. Shaves have been most excellent - I really loved Monday's shave with the B&M Reserve Base - and how can you go wrong with a tribute to Old Spice? The day was also neat in that Aidan and I went go cart racing!

I skipped shaving Tuesday and then yesterday went with an awesome tart citrus in Oleo (or I guess it is now Chicago Grooming). The EdT was unique in that the "DNA" of Stronger with You would normally lean you towards cold weather and be cloying in the summer - it has a fantastic lime opening. Definitely wouldn't wear it outside this time of year because it would be overwhelming with the summer heat. Today - I went with a Dr. Jon's - this is has gin & tonic type of vibe with a hint of tobacco. I still owe the team a review on the my new Tatara Muramasa.

Have a most fantastic week!

I have Spice as well, but I think it's my hardest soap to get a lather from. Going to have to try it again this weekend. One of my pet shaving peeves is people ragging on current Old Spice, it still smells great, and has perfect longevity for an AS.

It's been so long since I smelled the original (I was a kid at the time and I remember my father using on special occasions (Daily - Aqua Velva, Old Spice - Church and taking family out, English Leather - my brother and I were getting sent to our neighbors for the night lol). I like the scent of the current version that I bought at CVS - all good to me!

I've been lucky - though my area is known for harder water than most - I haven't really found a soap that I have had difficulty lathering most soaps. I don't use Arko, Cella, Williams, or MWF (don't own that last one) -enough to remember if they were extra work. I usually load my brush way more than what is really needed though - that probably plays a role in equation.

Do you have any of the other B&M Reserves? IMO their Lavender is one of the best versions of a soap with Lavender outside of CBL Hello which really knocked it out of the part with its use of lavender in the soap (and Drakkar Noir - the 80s & 90's King of Lavender!)

No I don't but I'm sort of entering a lavender phase, so might have to check it out. IF I can get the spice to later well first, lol.
Tallow and Steel Classic 2 is my top lavender at the moment, but darn those limited releases.
I need to get Drakkar and Azzaro PH some time. How is the current formulation?

I think the current versions are great (I have both Drakkar and Azzaro PH) - and you can't beat the price - I think you can pick up a 100ml bottle of Drakkar for about $15 at TJ Maxx - and APH on eBay for about the same.

I agree it is fantastic! One of the things I love most about our hobby is that that we can experience the classics at affordable prices - I looked up YSL Rive Gauche pour Homme on eBay - $250!! Wow!

Thanks, that’s good to know! I can find them both in local web stores too. Azzaro is a bit more but still very affordable.

I got really lucky with my can of Rive Gauche half that price NOS. But man, I just don’t want to use it too much. Too rare.

Have you tried Beau de Jour by any chance? Another I’m hearing great things about is Geo F Trumper Paisley.

I haven't used GFT for anything yet - though I am looking at their Extrait of Limes - GFT has stood the test of times. I know Barber Dave has the Limes - he might be a good one to reach out to regarding Paisley. I haven't directly tired Beau de Jour - I have a dupe from Oakcha - called Oak Barrel - and I love it. I also have the Pinnacle Grooming Barbershop soap & AS which is an homage to Beau de Jour. If the Tom Ford original is anything like the two homages that I have - I would say it is wonderful!
