Trying to get caught up in the journals here Don. Add my name to the list of people praying for your daughter and your family, as well as the professionals tying to help her.

Your straight razor journey seems to be going very well. If your experience matches mine, you should be seeing a marked improvement in the quality of shaves over the next 25 or so shaves. It won't be consistent yet (which can be frustrating), but you will be amazed by some. The consistency did not come along for me until after 100, with a gradual improvement best describing it.

1st of all Praying that things get figured out with your daughter! I'm sure when and if the time comes to make a decision about treatment, you and your wife will make the correct one, I will pray for you anyhow though, can't hurt right?

Great couple of shaves and reads Don!

Nice italian shave today Don...the weekend seems like it's going to be a good time, even if Arabella is heartbroken about being back at la Mancha, she'll still have a good time.
Thanks. I think Tammy has some special things lined up.

I’ve heard rumors that Cella lathers just as well with ‘internationally diverse” brushes. Sure it’s against the law to use anything but an Italian Boar but the coppers usually have their hands full citing those people who refuse to keep buying new stuff... minimalist.
LOL. Those minimalists need to be rounded up and taught to appreciate these things the right way.

Nice Italian theme today!

When I had boys day and took Connor to Paw Patrol live. My wife and daughter went to get there nails and toes done. I think I have a girly girl on my hands. At the time she was 2 weeks shy of turning one, and she would crawl up and stick her hand or foot in your face and basically flaunt her colored nails. I am sure your daughter will have a fun girls day, and now you have an excuse to get the whole family out camping when it warms up a bit.
Mine used to be a very rough and tumble girl, but is slowly becoming more of a girly girl as time goes on. It will be interesting where she winds up.

Thanks. I am eager to get to that level where they are consistent.

Thanks Craig. It definitely never hurts.

Tech - Nacet (9)
Sorrentino Tuxedo
CFG Santa Paula
LT VC / Fine L'Orange Noir

Today, I went with the Santa Paula because I had been craving it ever since seeing Josh's mail call. This is without a doubt one that I will be buying a full tub of with the matching aftershave. The shave itself went very well. The soap was plenty slick for the tech and smelled amazing. After 3 passes, I am BBS and happy. This razor is basically automatic and the Nacet is continuing to impress. I put it neck and neck with the GSB blades. After 9 shaves it is still chopping the whiskers without any issues at all. With my previous experience with Gillette blades, I am anticipating it lasting for a total of 12-15 shaves. The orange dirt was called up to duty after the shave and left me smelling good for the rest of the day.

A la Mancha, the little man is nervous about camping tonight, this will be the first time we have camped outside of the backyard. The biggest problem that we face is that they want us there at 5:30-6, but I do not get off of work until 5:30. It will then take me 30 minutes just to drive home and pick up the boy, another 30-40 minutes to drive out there. So, at the earliest, we will be 30 minutes late if the evening traffic cooperates. He is also going to the doctor's today to get his finger lanced. We were trying to see if we could go without doing it because he seemed to be doing better, but the amount that it has started to swell the last couple of days, we think it needs to be done.

On another note, the tracking # for my incoming injector stated that it was placed in my mailbox yesterday, but my wife says that it wasn't there. Either she is hiding it from me or there was some mistake. If it doesn't show up by the end of the weekend, I will talk to someone at the post office on Monday.

Great shave Don. Have fun tonight with the camping, though I'm sorry to hear that the little man is going to have to have his finger lanced. That is no fun...

Thanks everyone. Unfortunately, the wife's car died tonight, so by the time I got it fixed, it was too late to get to the campground. Tomorrow we will meet them up there bright and early.

Darn...sorry to hear about the auto issues, Don. Hope you can get it fixed in short order, have fun camping today!

Catching up Don, Praying for you and the fam with all the issues going on. Hope you enjoyed the Kami, looking forward to your final reports on it

Have a great time tomorrow. Hope all the pieces fit and the lad’s finger all work out well.

Thanks everyone. We did have a great time. A lot to catch up on. Will post more about all that and catch up on your journals later.

OK, brothers of the blade, I am back. This is going to be a catch up post.

Saturday: Straight Shave 43
Torrey
Made Rite 1000
Henri et Victoria Cognac and Cuban Cigars
LT VC / Chatillon Lux Unconditional Surrender

Since I did not make it camping Friday night and had to go Saturday morning, I figured that I would sneak a shave in. I had been having good shaves with the Waterville so much that I figured that I would have a go with the Torrey. I do like my Waterville more. I am not sure if it is just keener, or the extra weight of being a 6/8 and having a thicker spine, but the Waterville glides through stubble easier. The Torrey is my lightest razor. The end result was good though. A 2 pass DFS with nothing more than a tip scrape, no blood, just a little pink line. And I smelt rugged enough to go camping.

Sunday: No Shave

Today: Straight Shave 44
Keen Kutter K11
Stirling Synthetic
Lisa's Natural Bay Rum
LT VC / Barrister and Mann Bay Rum

Today, I decided that since the previous shave was not as good, I would try my other 5/8, the K11. Now this razor is a little more substantial than the Torrey, but not a huge amount. Kind of like a small pickup rather than a sports car. The Waterville would be a dually. Anyways, the shave itself went very well. I like this blade a lot. I don't think it will dethrone the Waterville as the king in my den, but it will always be a good option. After 2 passes, I am DFS+ with no incident.

A la Mancha, Elijah and I went up to the campground around 8AM on Saturday. We had a great time of hiking, bon fires, and lots of indoor activities. I am not sure if it ever got out of the 40s and stopped raining on Saturday, but it was still a lot of fun. I got to know a few of the other dads there. They are a great bunch of people. We headed home on Sunday, I got home in enough time to take quick showers and head off to church so that I could teach. We had a lot to do yesterday, so I don't think we got home until around 4. Then, after trying and failing to get the lawnmower started, I did another project that the LOTH has been wanting to do. We have a raised bed garden directly in front of our house. Well, the wood is starting to rot and get moldy, so, we decided to tear it out. Upon doing this, we found a few boards that were infested with ants, so instead of just adding them to the brush pile, we went ahead and piled them up in the fire pit. This did 2 things, one, made sure the ants didn't infest the ant pile, and allowed the kids to roast some marshmallows. All in all, it was a good weekend.

Great write-up, Don and some good shaves in there, even if they weren't as good as you were getting with the Waterville. Glad to hear the camping went well, and great job turning the ant infestation into an ad-hoc reason to have Smores!!!

Since you didn't say, I'm just going to assume your shave yesterday was in the morning at camp with a small mirror hanging from a tree and your water from a cast iron pot ?

Mirror? Just a shined up hatchet stuck in the side of a tree. Instead of a brush, I used a squirrel's tail. It squirms so much just hold in the soap then up to your face and it lathers for you.

Nah, shaved Saturday before I left, didn't shave Sunday.

Nice shave with the squirrel LOL

Sounds like a great time camping though. And then with roasting marshmallows at home that sounds like the perfect way to end an evening. On our neighborhood watch facebook page, a neighbor was getting rid of a BUNCH of bricks. I went and picked them up and plan on making a fire pit at the house. Will probably try and do that project this weekend, if the weather is good. I would like to be able roast hotdogs, and marshmallows in the back yard with the kids. I think it would be fun!

Hey you opened the door, I just walked in!
But I did hesitate just a bit before I googled shaved squirrel and shaving squirrel on the work computer.

Nice couple of shaves Don!

Glad the camping trip went well!

Your lucky I don't have the rights to change custom titles.
