Quijote's search for BBS

Sigh, of course there's a squirrel shaving itself with a straight blade on the internet. Why wouldn't there be a flippin' squirrel shaving itself with a straight blade on the internet???? Why in the world!?! And yes, I did google shaving squirrel shaving soap, just to make sure I wasn't missing a vendor.

Everready Round Guard Shovelhead - GEM Personna (6)
Sorrentino Tuxedo
B&M Night Music
LT VC / B&M Night Music AS

Today I was running late, so I just grabbed something I could shave with quick and easy with a good result. This razor is probably my favorite in the den. It is one of those that makes me wonder why I ever reach for anything else. Kind of like how NurseDave feels about the RX. Effortless BBS+ with blades that last so long, that they end up costing me less than a penny per shave. I swirled the soap more than normal today, but still didn't load enough. I was squeezing out all possible to finish up my 3 pass shave this morning. It did make clean up a lot faster.

Thanks for reading everyone. Have a great day.

Awesome Don, I'll never stop wondering why the GEM just didn't agree with me even a little.

I don't know either Dave. How many shaves did you give a blade before deciding that it wasn't right?

nice quick shave, Don. I have mixed results with the GEM's...a GEM Jr. that shaves great and a 1912 that shaves like peeling skin of my face. LOL

i'm with ya NurseDave the Gem doesn't work for me. But those that get them to perform sure love them!

Nice job with the shovelhead. Finding the "right" blade is the trick.
I agree. I have 3 different blades I can send you if you need help finding your right blade.

Straight Shave 45

Waterville Cutlery 6/8
Omega Boar
Cella
LT VC / Barbasol Pacific Rush

I have been thinking recently about not having any finished soaps other than samples. Then I decided I will take a card from Chad and do an every other day method to try to finish one. I have 3 that I thought were good options. Stirling Naked and Smooth, Tabac, and Cella. I figured that the Cella would be the best option. So, I am going to try the every other day thing with it. This may take a few months for me though, so who knows if I will actually be able to see it through. I may have to break the law to do it though. I am not sure if I can use the same brush every other day, but I also do not want the shaving police after me for using a brush that isn't an Italian boar.

Today's shave was good. The blade felt great in my hand. No leakage or seepage from a 2 pass shave that ended in a DFS. I did not however put the LT VC on right away and I have some visible irritation on my neck. I don't feel it, but I see it. Completely something that could have been avoided, but I was rushing and got out of order for how I do things.

A la Mancha, today is a short day here at work. Our department has a company picnic today starting at noon. Nothing like getting paid to eat great food and play games.

I love mandatory fun days!

Nice shave, albeit with a bit of the irritation you were speaking about. Good plan to mimic Chad on the every other day routine.

Good stuff Don. I like the every other day method. I still get variety and I feel like I am using up some soap lol
