Quijote's search for BBS

Couldn't do the 3017. Had to break out the Proraso Single Blade Cypress and Vetiver set. Still got a great shave with the Shovelhead though.

Well, everything around us is starting back up. Life is about to get crazy again. 2 sets of scouts, family running club, kids biking club, baseball, and soccer camp.

The kids went to 2 egg hunts today and the one I was able to go to with them, my son made me proud. One of the other kids tripped and spilled all his eggs. My son stopped and helped the other kid pick up all of his.

Man, it's been ages since I used that cream. Outstanding stuff too.

Fantastic proud papa moment.

Standard great shave yesterday. BBS with the Shovelhead, Stirling Boar, and the same cream and aftershave as last time (daughter picked it out).

Great weekend. The kids had tons of fun and ate way too much candy. Went to an outdoor service at our church. Then went over to my parents' house for Easter dinner. While there, I went ahead and did some work on the wife's car. It is so much easier to do on a paved driveway than gravel.

Well, good shaves all around. I sound like a broken record with my shaves. Shovelhead, DG Colonia Balsamica soap/AS, Sorrentino brush.

Went to the doctor yesterday. Have been getting headaches often, problems focusing, and my thoughts just feel fuzzy (if that last part makes any sense). He diagnosed me with chronic migraines and prescribed me a couple of things to help. Hopefully this will end those problems and get me back to normal. He also is doing some blood tests to make sure nothing else is going on. Otherwise, everything around here is going great. Hope you gents have a great rest of your week.

Shaves have been good. I finished off my tub of Declaration Grooming Colonia Balsamica. Which is too bad. I really liked that stuff and it is now unobtanium. I have started on a tub of Stirling South Padre to see if I can 3017 that. Not sure if I will though because while I do like the scent, I do not love it. I do love the Stirling performance though.

Been a hectic place around here lately. All the storms across the country have kept work extremely busy. The kids are also in sports right now, so that keeps us moving as well. But last week threw everything off the rails. My mother in law passed away last Thursday and my wife and kids spent the week down there with her. Unfortunately, due to my amount of work, I could not be down there too. To say that my wife's relationship with her mother was complicated would be putting it lightly. Way too much to go into here. But, they seem to have made up a couple of days before she passed. Everything is starting to get back to normal, but I can tell that she is still hurting. The other night, she told me that she just wanted to pick a fight with someone at my son's baseball game. Thankfully, he is in a church league and everyone was just too nice.

Been a while since I posted, so wanted to give people an update. While not doing a true 3017, still using the Stirling South Padre most of the time. I throw in an A&E shave from time to time just to change it up. I have been alternating between my GEM Push Button and my Razorock German 37.

On the personal front, the kids decided that they want to try homeschooling again. This time trying the homeschooling co-op for enrichment classes.

I'm taking a gamble at work. My supervisor told me that the claims customer service department at our agency has grown so much that they are going to need another manager soon and that some other supervisors were thinking that I would be one of the best people for it. So, to better learn their processes, I stepped down as an adjuster (they are going to maintain my licenses though) to go into that department. It is a 10% pay cut, but if I get the position of supervisor, I will be making more and have greater possibility for advancement.

Hey guys! Looks who I found!

Good luck on the job front. Always means a lot when the staff themselves want you to be their boss.

I have been around, just lurking in the bushes and watching.

Another plus on the work front is less stress and I get to control my overtime. The head of the department told me that I can work as much OT as I need to make up for the loss.

Shaving had been good. I have enjoyed using all the different artisans this post week. I forgot how good some of them are. I still am using two main razors, my GEM push button and a German 37.

While going through some of my stuff the other day, I came across a project that I had put aside and completely forgotten about. I was going to make some new scales for one of my straights. We shall see how well l do on those.

My week of vacation is coming to an end. Back to work at the new position in Monday. Had a good week with the family. Did some overdue yardwork, went to Chattanooga to ride the train, and worked on the van.

Well, shaves have been uneventful great shaves. I am probably one of the more boring people in here with the stuff I use. Same 2 razors, got around 10 shaves on the DE blade and around 30 or so on the GEM. Been using the same 3 or 4 soaps for a long time. Really hoping that they will run out one of these days. I must be a soap miser, I started using my Stirling South Padre in late spring, early summer and have barely made a dent in it. And that one has been at least half of the shaves in this time period.

This month has been beyond hectic for us. The hurricane hit and caused a lot of damage in and around the danger state, so work has been all hands on deck lately. Elijah started soccer. Arabella started pottery classes. They both have running groups and triathlon clubs. The only day that we aren't busy are Fridays and that has been designated as family game night.

I have been riding with them on the biking challenges and I came to realize just how much the right bike can make a difference. I have a 26" Huffy that I got as a gift and everyone else at the group were practiced bikes with Treks, Cannondales, etc. I couldn't ever keep up with them, which was fine because Arabella isn't comfortable going really fast. Well, Arabella's chain snapped the other day, so I let her use my bike and since one of the other parents knows that I always ride with her, they let me borrow their bike. What a difference. It was so much easier to go faster. She is also starting to get more comfortable going faster and this past week, I had problems keeping up. I may have to look into an upgrade at some point if I am going to continue with this. Also, knowing that I was going to be riding with them, I signed up for something called the Great Cycle Challenge, that supports the Children's Cancer Research Fund.

The other thing that happened this month is that I turned 40 on Friday. I am officially over the hill now. To celebrate we went out to our local beer joint, the Casual Pint, with a couple friends. When I got my first beer, the asked me if I am a first responder. I told them that I used to be, and they told me that I drink for free all night. Apparently, they were giving back for 9/11 to all first responders. It was a great night.

Wowza, glad to see ya Don! Good to hear you’ve kept safe during the storms and life goes on.

Belated happy birthday! Another year and I’ll be there myself 😵

Are all Dons dangerous??

Okay, so what you do it say “f it” and try to enjoy the slide down and b!tch and moan about the bumps on the way. 😁
It was his state, my state was spared, too landlocked.

Yes, enjoying the slide is the only way. Hopefully, no one glued sandpaper to it.
