Quijote's search for BBS

Friday's shave:
RR German 37/no idea what blade or how many shaves are on it
Sorrentino 24mm synthetic
Tabac
LT Vanishing Cream /Avon Spicy

No shave on Saturday. Just threw on some LTVC and a couple sprays of Fine Platinum.

Jectah!/Eversharp (?)
Graydog 26mm 2 band
DG Santal Auster
CL Santal Auster Salve

Friday's shave was a good shave that still had a couple tender spots from the previous day. That didn't really cause any issue. However, as soon as I had lathered the Tabac, my son came into the bathroom and decided that he had to drop the kids off at the pool. I stopped him in timebut had to rush the shave. I still did my 3 passes and got a BBS, but much faster than normal.

We dropped the kids off at grandma's and went out for lunch and a little shopping at places that we didn't think would be crazy busy. Stayed as far away as possible from any mall. The lunch was basically an early anniversary celebration. This will be 10 years. We had some delicious Greek food.

On Saturday, we went to downtown Knoxville because many of the shops participate in an Elf on the Shelf hunt. They hide an elf somewhere in the store and the kids have a blast looking for them. Well, it was small business Saturday, so all of these places were crazy. If the kids find them in 20 stores, they can enter to win something. No idea what it is, but they are excited to do it. We only did 15 because it was so busy. We will go back and finish a little later on the season. I always look forward to going into one store, Mast General Store. They have a lot of great hiking/camping gear. On the way out, something caught my eye. It was round, with a diameter of about 4". It was a cream color with blue writing, a tub of TOBS. Of course, I change my path to arty least be able to get a better idea of what all they have. They have TOBS, Coronel Conk, a DE and brush. Also, a lot of the Royall lineup. It was all in a display case and my family was in no mood to wait, so I couldn't really look into it too much. I will have to go back sometime by myself.

Today was a great shave. 3 pass BBS that wasn't rushed. Did the normal Sunday stuff, and just had a good day. Back to work tomorrow.

Nice write up Don. I love finding gem stores like that.

Now let let me ask. When the kid comes in while shaving with a straight do you kind of get nervous and have to warn him to stay back from Daddy? I mean I would be worried more for my own neck and face.

\n\nThat\'s basically what I do. They can watch but have to stay back

\nThey are worried enough. I have warned them about the straights and they won\'t even come near me with them. The only real danger is when they first enter the room. I shave right next to the door, so if they open it too fast, they could hit me.

Typing before my coffee can lead to many typos.

I have now had my coffee, shower, and shave.

GEM Shovelhead/GEM Personna Stainless (?)
Sorrentino TSC Legacy
B&M Night Music
B&M Night Music A/S

This is definitely a polarizing scent. My daughter and wife love it, my son gives it a thumbs down. Today, I had to change up a lot of things; different water, no face wash, face lather instead of bowl lathering. After 3 passes, I ended up with a BBS. The only problem was a slight irritation under my chin. With all the changes to the routine, I won't be able to pinpoint exactly what went wrong, but tomorrow I will be back to my normal routine. Until then, the A/S is soothing it rather nicely.

Night Music is one strange scent. It can change a bit over time. First sniff was from a tub at Maggards and is smells like musky garbage. Then later got a 50% tub from a trade, was a release from previous year and smells great. Strawberry notes with a musky background, night and day difference.

Yeah, I have a similar issue. They just want to be in my space.

Thanks to NurseDave, I'm back. I'm not sure how active I will be able to be, but I will be around. Life is nuts right now. I don't change up my shaving rotation much anymore, and since getting hurt, I can't really hold a straight very steady. I will post more about everything later.

As I stated in the last post, my shaving life has gotten routine. I am now shaving every other day because I just end up getting a better shave that way, closer with less irritation. I am also basically only using 2 razors now. My Razorock German 37 and an Ever-Ready Shovelhead. I still try my straight from time to time, but I injured my left hand about 6 months ago and wasn't even able to hold it for a long time. Now when I do, my left hand is still shaky and aches for 2 days afterwards.

For brushes, I am mainly using my Sorrentinos. 9 times out of 10 it is a synthetic. They are just quicker for me and still make glorious lather.

For soaps and aftershave, I typically have 4-6 that I alternate between each season. I think that I need to actually finish a tub of something before I buy anything else. That one tub of Stirling that was getting close before I left originally is still going strong. I recently pressed a sample into the bottom of my bowl in hopes that it would give me a boost to finish something, but alas, it had been a month and it is still kicking.

Next time I post, I will go over what has been happening in my life since I have been in exile (self imposed).

Thanks everyone for the welcomes.

A little glimpse into my life lately. Both kids are playing baseball/softball and basketball. Elijah is active cub scouts. Arabella is active in American Heritage Girls. I am also now the den leader for Elijah's group. Between the 2 of them, there are 3 camping trips this month.

At the beginning of the year, I was playing basketball during my lunch break at work. I went up for a rebound, when I came down someone else landed on my foot. Well, my shoe stayed there, but my momentum had me landing around 7 feet away. I thought at the time that it was just a scraped left hand and light sprain on my ankle. I finished the game one handed because I didn't want to bleed on the ball. Apparently, it was much more than scraped because it has never been the same since.

We didn't have air conditioning for about a month this summer. Waiting on special order parts to come in. Then my wife's car stopped. After replacing the O2 sensors, MAF, both catalytic converters, and redoing some of the wiring, it is now running again.

But the family is healthy, happy, and constantly moving. That is what is important.

Basketball was the source of a couple of my concussions. Hopefully everything heals up sooner than later.
