Pens, inks and related.....

They just put me on hold...............Hold on, there's a bunch of banging on the door and someone yelling POLICE, Open up !!!!
It's noon, they're out to lunch. You didn't account for the time zone difference.

My experience with fountain pens hasn't been all that great. I like the idea of them. But if I use them...I want to use them in practical situations. I guess I just don't have the patience for them. But the one's I have tried have been awful on regular paper. That's why I never really got into them. You might be right...but I just never figured it out. As cheep as the Pilot Varsity pens are...I might give it a try...especially after what I saw yesterday.

The Kaweco Sport or Ice Sport is a good option here. Not as cheap as the Varsity, but the ink in the small Kaweco cartridges is pretty decent in my experience.

That's the great thing with the cheap Japanese pens, they are fine enough that dry time isn't an issue on most paper, and they are cheap enough and tough enough that you don't feel like you have to baby them.

I agree. The finer the point, the less mess. I use a fountain pen exclusively at work now and I write all day. The quality of paper I’m writing on varies depending on the document, and I’ve found that the Japanese fine point on my Platinum Preppy works the best on the cheap stuff.

Few little items to add to this thread. My sister got me some sealing wax and a couple of seals for my birthday. I've been messing around with those and per an idea from YouTube I made some seals on tin foil so I can peel them off then put them on whatever with double stick tape. That way you don't ruin whatever it is you've just written by screwing up the seal. I have some flat cards I'm keeping at work and will put seals at the bottom just as a nice accent.

I also just learned about www.thefountainpencompanion.com where you can register for free and then track your inks and pens and apparently what ink you have in what at the time. I've only just signed up and will mess around with it today.
