One blade February

Razor: Rockwell 6c Plate 4
Blade: Ladas Super Stainless (17)
Brush: WWBW Jingle 2 Band Badger
Soap: Stirling Spice
AS: Stirling Spice

The Ladas is starting to show its age. Went for a 4 pass shave this morning for fun, and the result is a BBS-. Can’t complain, but I feel that the blade wasn’t quite getting it done as well as it should. I need more strokes and cleanup than the previous few shaves.

Shave # 8 with my second Parker Premium blade. Yesterday, I tjink I got my one and only comfortable shave form this blade. Happened with the last one too, only one or two shaves were what I would consider good. Today was back to being draggy. The only way IO can get this blade to be good at all is to ride the cap and make the blade angle as shallow as possible. Otherwise, if I use my normal angle, it just feels sort of rough. Still a close shave though.

Come on March!

20 shave today. Blades are notably less sharp, causing me to chase a bit and inadvertently use some pressure and have slight irritation. So overall shave is a bit rough, but actual stubble results are good.

Im having the same experience. At this point I’m trying to see how far I can go before a total breakdown.

On my 3rd Sputnik with 2 shaves and a total of 25 Sputnik shaves.......................March can't come quick enough and won't do this again next year with a first time blade to me.......

I know I am not playing the same game as y'all but I have made it a point to stick with the same straight razor (Vorpal-modified gold dollar) since January 31. The blade had a few shaves on it when I started but I have added 19 more. I am using my old Outlaw strop and firehose linen to keep the edge in fighting condition with a few trips to the 0.1micron diamond pasted strops here and there. I expect to get many more shaves in before it NEEDS to visit the hones.

It looks like nobody is using a GEM se blade for single blade February, that could be fun. I have a couple Kriss Kross razor stropers that would (in theory) keep one of those bad boys going a long time. I tried loading a DE blade in the Kriss Kross but it didn't go well.

Interesting thought perhaps for next year.

Still going strong with the Ladas blade. 19 shaves as of today. It almost seems to have taken a turn for the better as today was a close 3 pass shave (BBS-) with no irritation, and it was also very comfortable. The shaves were starting to feel more and more uncomfortable, almost like the blade was beginning to scrape instead of glide and cut. Today was totally different though, so I'll continue to push this blade as far as I can. I was thinking tomorrow was going to be the last one for this blade, but maybe not. We'll see...

We have a Contender here boys

I’m 15 shaves on my Rubie and I’m gonna stretch it as far as I can. I am thinking at least 14-15 more in it

Shave number 16 on the Gillette Green this morning and the blade is still going strong. I'm way behind on shaves this month for various reasons, with the main culprit being the ice storm of a couple of weeks ago knocking out our power for 72+ hours! Anyways, I'm planning to continue this challenge past the month of February to see how far this blade will go.

I'm on shave 14 of my second Parker Premium. Do I need to say it again..... dreadful blade. The first one gave up on my at shave 12. No longer provided close shaves. But really, almost every shave has been draggy. I wouldn't say uncomfortable, and definitely not painful..... but not really comfortable either. (What's in between comfortable and uncomfortable?) I switched up my soap, and decided to get away from my samples, which were all unknowsm and go with something I knew. Mystic Water. Glad I did. A marked improvement over the Southern Witchcrafts soaps I'd been testing. Nothing wrong with them, they just weren't helping the situation with the blade at all. And the MW really has made the blade last just a bit longer. Two more to go, and I'll be sticking with MW for those last shaves.

I’m on shave number 23 with the Ladas Super Stainless. I’m a few shaves behind this month, but this blade will definitely go the distance. I might even push it a few days in to March to hit 30 shaves total. We'll see.
