Well I've been away since Sunday and so wasn't home to start the blade I was going to. I used what I've had since Sunday which was a Sputnik and today was shave 6 on it, so change my blade choice to Sputnik please..........

I considered doing this with the WECK or a single straight razor. I may stick with the straight I used today the rest of the month...or not.

My guess is some of you who have not stuck with a blade more than a week are going to be impressed by the performance beyond your normal usage period.

Just watched your video KJ. So 3 things:

You’ve gotten 60-150 shaves with a Feather? At what point does the quality start to drop off?

I’ve tried Personna Platinums more than once and haven’t been able to get past 2 shaves. They always tear my face up.

I’m surprised you found the Parker less than smooth. It’s definitely become my favorite blade. Hopefully it evens itself out for you after a shave or 2.

Off to a good start...

A Russian razor for a Russian blade. At setting 1 this was way, way too mild. The razor is great, but I need to use it at a higher setting.

The blade worked great. I hope it keeps going all month.

Actually, I said 115. That’s my record. It was a few years ago that I did that. Don’t recall exactly its performance. But it’s pretty steady for most of its life until the end.

Sorry I misheard that as 150. But still, 115 is impressive! Especially with little drop off in quality until the end. Now I’m really interested to see how far I can push this Ladas!

If I am lucky I can get 5 shaves out of a blade.
\nYeah, but if you have to pitch a blade, you just pick up another of the same one and continue. Hopefully learning as you go, and improving next time. It’s like doing a soap 3017. The goal is to try pushing a blade and learning better techniques that will enable you to do so.

The last few days have been a whirlwind for me much like the last of the month is every month. But Yesterday I started off with a fresh new Voskhod. Not much really to say but that it's a very smooth blade that has always seemed to work well for me in the past. It definitely isn't the sharpest blade out there, but I really like it. I did something similar to this challenge when I first started wet shaving and used Voskhod blades then too. I ended up with 11 shaves on it before I had to pitch it. I am actually hoping that I can surpass that with this blade and see how long these guys last on the "blade breaker" that is my face.

Shave 2 on Parker Blade. Rockwell 6C. Still not smooth, but maybe a tiny bit better today. Switching razors tomorrow.

I have to snicker every time I see KJ (Spiderman) picked a (Peter) Parker blade. Stan would be proud.
Indeed! Especially with my Parker Shavette! Lol.

Now I’m really interested to see how far I can push this Ladas!
That’s the spirit!

Feb 2 Single Blade first shave

Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable
Soap: B&M Hitchhikers #42
A/S: Same
Brush: Sterling Kong Synthetic

To open the Month of February I had intended to use the Game-Changer that I was supposed to take delivery of yesterday. It did not arrive til this afternoon, so I started with an alternate, a slim Adjustable. This really made for an enjoyable contrast with the Assured system I have been using, save for one shave the other day. I do so enjoy these razors. I took a bit of extra time to clean and lube the workings of this and several other of my Gillette collection. They all are capable of the additional quarter turn on lockup, save the longer handled Super-Adjustable.

The B&M Base provides a very good lather with my water. With the familiar petunia-like fragrance that makes this a very nice spring/summer soap. It is quite strong from the puck and on lathering.

The shave went without incident and after 3+ passes, I achievied a near-grail shave. I faceturbated most of the day today, and the GameChanger arrived in todays post. I very much look forward to introducing myself to it.

It feels great to do a journal entry! I've been exclusively vlogging for too long, it's time I remedy that now that my fingers work better.
