One blade February

Shaves one and two yesterday and today with the Gillette Green. Got 16 shaves out of this blade the last time I used it. Hoping to stick with one blade for the full month. The plan is to start the month with mild razors and slowly move more aggressive (34c the last couple days). We’ll see if this has any impact on longevity.

Some may feel otherwise, but I feel that changing razors has a negative effect on longevity. When a blade settles in, the edge is aligned with the angle of attack of that razor. If you change the razor, you’ll get a new angle and the interaction will be Different, and in my opinion, will be less than optimum after each change.

I never thought about this, but it does make sense.

I think the best way to to counteract that is by flipping the blade every shave. I feel like it keeps the edge “evened out”.

Im still of the opinion that that is not optimal. For the same reasons I mentioned before.

I’m just going to do my normal routine. I want to see what I can realistically expect out of this blade without any special treatment.

I haven't posted here, but I’m 2 shaves in with the Ladas Super Stainless. So far so good, but that was to be expected.

2nd shave in the books with the Voskhod! Put in the Yuma Razor that Dave in Kentucky is lending me currently.

2019 Shave # 37

Razor: Rockwell 6s Plate 5
Blade: Sputnik (10)

Brush: Brad Sears 28 mm

Soap: Stirling One
Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla

Aftershave 2: Stirling One

Well I have to say I got the Stirling to an awesome consistency. Slick and shiny but still thick enough for cushion. The Sputnik hasn't given out yet and gave me an extra close shave this morning. Shave 10 on it in the books. It's almost 4 so I'm out the door. Have a great day Cadre !!!

Third shave with the Voskhod. It's in the Yuma razor again and I have a couple shaves left with this razor. So far so good. But I do wonder if going from razor to razor might affect the longevity of the blade. Different angles and all.

I had shave 6 with the Parker today. I feel it’s leveled off some from Shave 1-2, but it’s still not smooth.

You every other day shavers need to go 2 months
